Ah ok. I haven't been keeping up with Pro football as much recently. Between a screwed up cable modem and almost totally apathy on my part, I haven't been combing football info like I usually do.

But I would say that signing Swinton wouldn't help much. We need a receiver that can catch the freaking ball. :D

Well I still can't find out where the heck Kareem Kelly is unless he's on the Saints practice squad?

Just for fun, holds the NCAA record with at least one catch in all 47 games he played in, actually caught one in all 48 but NCAA didn't count Bowl Games, USC did.

204 career catches. 15 TD's, 15.2 YPC.

Returns punts but not very well 5.4 yards per with his speed that's pretty abysmal.

Did I mention speed? Personal best 10.33 100 meters, set a world junior record in the 50 meters 5.67, ran a 4.35 at the combine and was actually injured at the time. 3 time state champ in HS in sprints(California).

his whole problem was he decided to come back for his senior year and went from #1 to #3 behind Colbert and Williams, had good numbers but he never really got better after his freshman year.

Had no stats in the preseason with the Saints that I can find, all I can find is he had a "lingering injury" and he and 7th rounder Talman Gardner(Quan's old teammate) were cut.

He's as fast or faster than Gilmore but he's shorter than his listed 6 feet, 5'10" tops.

You're right in that Gadsden isn't fast. But he CAN catch the ball. That's something that we've been sorely missing this year with the exeption of Boldin.

Guys, Hill definitely isn't the answer if your looking for speed. The kid ran about a 4.7 (Suggs territory) at the combine, and has played in one NFL game in which he fumbled a punt to lose the game to the Bears.

Don't the Cards have to make room if they sign one of these WR's? If so who's going to be cut?

Traded to GB and then cut by GB I believe.

Yes, the Packers did cut Swinton and then the Lions claimed him off waivers a couple of days later....

If it were up to me, they would clear the roster spot by placing Emmitt Smith on Injured Reserve.

Those three guys were brought in as possible "insurance." Cards won't make a move unless they're forced too. They still hope they'll be able to field 4 healthy wideouts the Sunday after this.

I'm not certain these guys are gonna address the shortcomings of the current receiving corps... if all that's left out there is practice squadders and marginal veterans, maybe the Cards should call up Jake Soliday, Reggie Newhouse, and/ or Antwone Savage. At least those guys already know the playbook.

It looks like the Cardinals coaches came to the same conclusion about Gadsden, Byrd and Hill. So much for that.

On the other hand, speaking of recent ex-Cards, the Bengals just cut Lawrence Hamilton. There's another 2003 training camp guy who'd probably be a quick study.

I'm at least half-serious about this. After the Ravens game, Blake said one reason they weren't running any deep patterns was that all three remaining WRs were gassed, and there was no one else to bring in. Hamilton and Antwone Savage were both touted as speed receivers, coming out of college, and could at least run down the field. If the Cards just need rotational wideouts, why not bring back one or both of these guys, if not Soliday or Newhouse, while they've still got a full week to get ready for the Niners?

I mean, only Kevin Kasper and Nate Poole were healthy enough to practice yesterday. They've gotta have somebody to catch the ball, right?

Scuttlebutt among the watchers at the facility was that Gadsden, in particular, was way out of shape.

Also, this morning, Lawrence Hamilton was released by Cinci.

I guess that is what happens when you are coming off a dislocated ankle.

Great time to decide to add a veteran WR now, thisis almost as good ad the time they signed McDaniel after Starks wen't down.

Wasn't Byrd the guy in Carolina that Pat Tillman absolutely creamed, knocked his headoff!!!! I loved that game, the was one of the better Cardinal games in the past few years, Boston was unstoppable, I think I'll break out the tape and watch it today,in celebration of the bye week.

Where is Michael Westbrook now? It doesn't look like he's on Washington's roster. Did he try out somewhere else and not make the team. He was overrated when he was playing, but he wasn't terrible.
