Let’s get it!! Maybe an extension when Maxx comes back next year so we can have two stud TE’s?
You are using the term stud extreemly losely, it does not apply to either.

Essentially, we have 5 draft picks and a roster of

1 RB under contract
3 WRs under contract (one being Andy Isabella)
0 TEs under contract
3 EDGE players under contract and one of them (Kennard) is likely to be cut
2 CBs under contract
Yes this is the logical outcome of a gm who has to resort to trades to overcome drafting deficiencies. Luckily he’s been pretty damn good with his trades. So even though we give up draft capital and $$$ they end up hitting. Let’s hope he keeps success rate high. Like Ertz. Like the move.

He will have a lot of opportunities with this offense. Much more than he did at the Eagles. And he was productive there. He played well last night

I'm not concerned about the costs. 5th round picks rarely work out and Gowan obviously wasn't quite what they hoped (yet) seeing as Whitaker was getting snaps over him.

I'm more concerned about the lack of extension and how much he might cost going forward.

it will be interesting to see which is true:

1. Ertz is a declining player as demonstrated by his lack of production

or

2. Ertz was in the middle of a dysfunctional offense with questionable QB the last two year as demonstrated by his lack of production

Ertz is an all-pro 3 time pro-bowler and 30 years old.

The talent has been seen and age is good. I’m down to see if he’s hungry for another Super Bowl
Yeah, I am aware. We are talking about the current player, not his past.

Moral of the story, the salary cap isn't logical!
I remember arguing 20 years ago, or so, on this board with Skkorp and others about the salary cap. At the time, the team used it as an excuse to not add good players. i never bought that, because other teams blew right past the cap every year and then did accounting.
