Morning show guys talking to a Philly guy about Ertz. Said even early on his nickname was “No YAC Zach.” He will make amazing catches but don’t expect him to fight for extra yardage.

Essentially, we have 5 draft picks and a roster of

1 RB under contract
3 WRs under contract (one being Andy Isabella)
0 TEs under contract
3 EDGE players under contract and one of them (Kennard) is likely to be cut
2 CBs under contract
This is what you are getting out of this trade?

He is making a very good point. We are going to have a real hard putting out a decent team next year due to the cap and lack of draft picks.

Who cares? We’re 5-0. Not going to borrow tomorrow’s worries today

Chris made a good point. We should be getting approx 3 comp pics. The Salary cap is going up a lot next year and some extensions can be done as well.

it will be interesting to see which is true:

1. Ertz is a declining player as demonstrated by his lack of production

or

2. Ertz was in the middle of a dysfunctional offense with questionable QB the last two year as demonstrated by his lack of production
The AJ Green question

1). Worry about that later
2). You can’t complain about SK’s drafting AND giving up picks
3). Salary Cap will go way up
4). How much difference is there usually between a fifth rounder and a UDFA?

Yeah, this trade really screwed us. We are now doomed to suck forever.
I never said that. It helps us for this season. Actually this trade is just taking away one 5th rounder which is unlikely to pan out so it probably won't affect us at all, and Gowan appeared to be a bust.

But the point he was making is a good one. We better win this year, because it is highly unlikely the team will be as good next year.

We don’t need that. We just need hands and ability to get open. Maxx had some wide open routes - Zach will appreciate that.

Love the move for what we gave up...which is not much at all. I thought Gowan had the chance to be a player, but if he couldn't get on the field with our CB room this year, I doubt he ever turns into a starter...so this is worth it.

Ertz gives us another option, and especially a redzone option. I wouldn't mind extending him a year. I think our window is this year and next. Im fine going all in these next two years because we are going to have to rebuild to a degree when our QB starts taking up 45% of the cap.

Just keep the 1st round picks and hope to god you get a starting quality player. Those 5 year cost controlled contracts HAVE to pan out if you want to be competitive year in year out.
