"They" being Cardinals or Warners?

They being the Cardinals. The offer had to be upped, even if Warner doesn't take it, so it doesn't look like they just let the starter of the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl go tp a division rival without even a fight.

While i am perfectly content with letting Kurt walk rather than open up the vault..

What exactly will we do with the extra 1.5 we just offered, if Kurt doesn't take it?

Seems like we've already missed on signing all the top level FAs..

Something tells me, if Kurt walks, we wont exactly be proactive with the extra funds.. therefore i dont have much issue if they want to up the offer to 12 million per yr
I don't think we were after any top tier FA anyway... these will go a long way towards several mid tier FA in positions of need and to redo the contracts for several existing players. Everything counts.

I'm not talking about the hosts, it's the callers (their market) that they should pay some attention to. Besides, it's not like the Cards think re-signing Warner is a bad thing. But, this team has never been bothered in the least by bad PR, that won't change now I suppose.

I assume you were listening to Bickley and MJ today. They were completely trashing the Cards today. I flipped between them and Gambo and Ash and they were a little lighter, seeming to be right in the middle.

The callers on Bick and MJ never give counterpoint arguments against their thinking. They are sheep. If Bick said the sky were red, callers would call in and talk about what contrast of red it is and analyze it from every imaginable angle.

Be careful what you hear from the media. They always have an agenda.

Again, I think 12.5 M guaranteed is fair. I wouldn't go any higher but I would give this contract offer because the Cardinals are trying to meet him somewhere near halfway and he did take us to the SB as a QB.

They have to do something, they are getting skewered on local radio today.

That's nothing compared to what will happen (God forbid) if Warner signs with San Francisco and they go to the playoffs and the Cardinals don't. I really don't want to have to avoid the loud-mouthed Niners fan at work for the next 2 years. :( It's been vice-versa recently and I like that a whole lot more. :)

Just been on Matt Maiocco's blog on the Press-Democrat's site. The enthusiasm there reminds me of how we felt when Edgerrin James came to the desert three years ago. It ain't universal, but it's close.

if that happens this board will implode like the house at the end of the movie Poltergeist. This place will just consume itself breaking all laws of physics. The dudes at Keebali will wonder where the server went that hosts this site

And what about when Warner tanks in SF and we go to the playoffs, again?

What then?

Ahh, what the hell....since everyone is getting an economic stimulus, lets just get Obama to sign off on a $30 billion package for Warner's return to the Cards

Then we'll all be happier than pigs in slop.

Besides, why worry? We have a tremendous history of back-to-back division titles, playoff victories, etc. Lose a starting QB? So what! We're the CARDINALS baby! We don't rebuild, we RE-LOAD! YEEE-HAWWWW!

all I can keep hearing are Kurt's words at the big red rage last season:

"I dont play for the stats, I dont play for the records, I dont play for the MONEY or any of that stuff... I PLAY TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS."

If Kurt leaves us (you know, the team that was 2 mins away from said championship) for a couple million extra dollars to play for a team that hasn't had a winning record since 2002, well then it's official, he's a hypocrite and I say good riddance because he wont be leaving for any other reason than MONEY.

If this offer is true, then Warner needs to sign it. $12+ is the offer that I'd say is more than fair out of everything that's been said so far. His agent can feel good about himself because he wasn't the one who blinked and Warner gets a nice chunk of change. I hope he signs and we can all move on.

Depends on the station.

Doug and Wolf thought the Cards offer was fair.

A few national hosts thought the offer was fair.

Dan Bickley was running his mouth about the same old Cardinals.

If Warner is signed for this amount or higher and he gets hurt next season, regardless of who fills in for him...I can already hear "Why did they spend so much on a 38-yr-old QB? The Cards are stupid."

I'm a glass half full person. At least it would make the memory of drafting Levi Brown over Adrian Peterson a fade into insignificance. :)

I'm disappointed if the Cards upped their offer.

This was another PR move to satisfy the natives.

It's not a team killer it's only a bit more but this should be the line, no more, anymore than this is crossing into stupid territory.

I'm ok with trying to do some PR, it's wrong that they feel they have to but I understand this, this is more about fans than anything but take a deep breath and grow a pair before doing something stupid and increasing it from here.
