Silas seemed like he was a good coach for that team, so I'm kind of surprised by this move especially at this point into the season. Maybe they're going to make Lebron the new coach. ;)

To bad Silas was a good coach. I thought it was either going to be him or Paxson to get the ax. IMO Paxson needs to go with that whole Boozer ordeal he should have been gone right after that.

If Lebron is the next Jordan (we shall see), will this make Paul Silas the next Doug Collins?

What if Phil Jackson took over. Crazy to think what Lebron could do in a triangle office.

Did you guys hear what Silas said recently, on tape, to a reporter?

He was asked what he thought about Carlos Boozer (because the Jazz were coming to play the Cavs).

Silas, without hesitating, said "See you next Tuesday."

The reporter didn't get it, and said "Eh, or tomorrow coach?"

Silas repeated "See you next Tuesday."

The reporter "It's above me, I don't get it."

Silas: "Spell it out - See you next Tuesday - that's what Carlos is."

FYI: See you next Tuesday = C U Next Tuesday

Never heard of "See You Next Tuesday"?

I guess this is the important information I garner from watching Sex in the City with my wife. LOL

The knee jerk reaction firings is one of the reasons teams like Cleveland and the clips always are in the bottom half of the NBA year after year. Silas is a good coach and didn't deserve to be fired. I will have to admit that when the owner is more loyal to the coach then to the players, good things seem to happen. I know the Jazz are having a down year but how many of the players in that org would dare to do to Sloan what loser boy up in Portland did to Cheeks.

The timing is really bizarre. I suspect that somehow this has to come from James. If he was behind Silas, there's no way they'd fire him at this stage. My guess is that management asked James for his opinion, and he said something lukewarm like "Coach is doing a good job, but maybe a change would help, I don't know."

From what I have heard, James and Silas were seriously butting heads actually. That definitely supports your theory of James being behind it.
