Gaging the team as it stands today, the greatest current need for the Cardinals this off season is at the CB position. As Ed B. pointed out in his article, the Cardinals current CB's are Macklin and ???

Should the Cardinals depend upon what appears to be a solid bunch of CB's in the upcoming draft, or obtain the services of one (or more) of the available free agent CB's?

A list of the available free agent CB's follows... Of this group, (it ain't pretty, folks) who should the Cardinals sign???
Code:
Name	Last Team	Age
Roderick Babers	Det	24
Aaron Beasley	Atl	31
Troy Brown (WR)	NE	33 worked for Pats last season
Terrell Buckley	NYJ	33
Pat Dennis	Wsh	26
Andre Dyson	Ten	25
Mike Echols	Det	26
Nicholas Harper	Ind	30
Renaldo Hill	Ari	26
Corey Ivy	TB	27
Todd McMillon	Chi	31
 ?? Montgomery	NO	31
Deion Sanders	Bal	37
Dainon Sidney	Det	29
Robert Tate	Ari	31
Raymond Walls	Bal	25
Aeneas Williams	StL	37
Jimmy Williams SF	25
Kenny Wright	Hou	27
Jimmy Wyrick	Mia	28

Anybody on the list worth paying what it would take to sign them?

After persuing this list, I would certainly resign Renaldo Hill! I am guessing that the Cardinals are waiting until his contract demands come down to reasonable numbers...

Following that I probably take my chances with the incoming rookies. I really like Carlos Rodgers from Auburn!!! Not the speediest, but he flat out plays football...

I think some of the guys on the list are RFAs. Anyways, I think it depends on who the Cards sign next -- James or Hartwell or neither.

If neither, bring in Dyson and Harper and help build the secondary.

What about Andre Dyson? He's still very young yet is pretty talented. They interviewed him on Sirius NFL Radio and he said that money is not very important, he just wants to find a team and play. Sounded very disappointed that no one has really expressed any interest. He sounds like someone we could take a chance on.

And ONLY 25.

Was he a nickle back last year?

I'm not sure. I really need to brush up on the CB position, cause I have no idea how good, if at all, he is. And he's been in the league 5 years!

I would assume the Cardinals are trying to amass draft picks to address this area. I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 CBs taken on day one of the draft!!

So far we have 4 first day draft picks. I think we'll definitely take a CB with one of our first 2 picks (and a RB with the other, just not sure which order) and then we have 2 3rd round picks.

From that List I'd like to sign Mike Echols for no other reason than I really liked him when he was in the draft (whice was about 3 years ago I believe). I have no idea how he has been doing in Detroit, but I assume he was a nickle back there. He's still very young and has some upside remaining. He'd also be a cheap signing and I'm sure he has some value as a special teamer (may be a fantastic gunner on punts).

I'd also like to bring back Hill as well. He's proved to be a decent #1 CB. He'd be great as a nickle guy and would be useful because he could step into the #1 spot in a pinch for a few games a season if we needed him to.

This is all dependant upon us finding a clear cut #1 CB. I think we can accomplish this through the draft by using our #8 pick on either Pac Man or Rolle ( I don't know which I'd prefer yet). I think they're both locks to be great pro's. Please, stay away from Carlos Rogers with the #8 pick. There is a reason he was ranked as a second rounder before the combine. Just because he ran a blazing fast 40 time doesn't mean he should jump all the way up to the #1 rated CB, where some people may have him currently sitting at. I believe in judging a player based on what he does on the field, not what he does on the track or in the weight room.

Some good CB will fall on draft day.Last year the kid from Oklahoma fell. I can't remember his name but the Jets took him in,i think, round 4. Then there was the guy from USC,Poole, that evrybody wanted as he continued to slide. I could easily see the Cards taking 3 DB's in this years draft. My dream scenario would be to get a 2nd rounder from TB and go Rolle,Fason,Marlin Jackson as the top 3 picks.

He would be a great pick up! Denny Green type of guy. Anyone is better than Jimmy Williams in S.F. That guy got smoked in every game last year.

I say get Led Zepplin I. Its a great album, and "Dazed and Confused" is a great workout song, just put it on in the weight room and hit repeat. :)

Thats all well and good, but Rogers produced on the field as well. I'm not saying draft him at 8, but would love him in the 2nd (don't think he'll be there).

The lack of interest in Dyson is perplexing. I'm real surprised he hasn't been at least talked about more.

I don't know how much Hill wants but if he is out pricing himself then we should go for Dyson and draft a corner in the draft and we should be good.

Hill wants 2-2.5 mil
Cards want to give him 1-1.5 mil
