What did they get from him? 14 games in 3 years? All LAST year? He did play well until he got hurt last year. So, I guess he'll be OK until he gets hurt this upcoming year. Kind of a meh signing but at this point it's a big whatever to me.

Just exactly do you expect to have for CB4 at vet min?

You find me an alternative that had a 67 PFF grade, allowed 57% comp rate and an 81.7 passer rating and 290 yards playing 70% of snaps over 14 games.

You find me a CB that offer that, for vet min, then you might have a point.
And when he gets hurt again and screws us over, I'm sure you'll come back to eat crow. Like you failed to do last year. But, sure, let's get older, slower, and more injured...THAT'S how we're going to improve. That's the key to successful roster construction in the NFL. Keim is literally trying to roll it back with the same busted players that directly led to the swoon, and some folks are gobbling it up. Well, then, I suppose you deserve Keim.

When we signed him 3 years ago it was as a #1/#2 cb. He is a depth chart signing. This is no “ big” signing. It really is a mere blip on the radar. Nothing to get upset or excited about.
Only reason I'm upset is he'll probably end up starting, knowing this team. And they'll probably think we're set at CB, which we most certainly aren't.

He missed 3 games. It's not like he missed the season. Hudson and Nuk missed more games, both the most ever in a single year, yet we ain't cutting them are we?

We get it. You don't like Alford. That doesn't mean it's not a smart signing.

Plus, he's CB4. So what if he gets injured? You just sign an FA off the street.

But again, show me a better player we can sign for vet min. Otherwise, you don't have a point.

I'd be fine with bringing Alford back for a team friendly contract. His biggest issue is staying healthy. However if he can stay on the field he is a quality DB.

Stout, you're certainly not wrong in your assessment and subsequent anger. Personally, I'm not so mad being that he was a glue guy for the secondary last year, and really gave us nothing to moan about outside of injury. I will be okay with this move IF (and it's a big one) we have a strong draft. If I may ask, would you have wanted him to bring someone else in? I don't know who else at this juncture I'd see making much of a difference over him. We have a bouillabaisse of problems, CB depth being just one of them. I'm not going to throw a fit over this move, moreso shrug and look forward to the draft/future roster cuts.

CB groups are all about depth. You can have two really good, expensive guys, but what happens when one of those guys go down?

You don't want the Jace Whitakers of the NFL playing in actual games. Depth at CB is huge.

Honestly, I have no idea how you CAN'T understand how someone wouldn't want him back. I get that there are opposition opinions from folks that do want him back, or wouldn't be opposed to it. I disagree, but whatever. The whole being befuddlement around how I can't like it is, well, befuddling.

Also, your last point literally made me laugh out loud. Thankfully my Teams meeting is muted. I'll counter on the same level and say "neener neener, YOU don't have a point" lol

As Brit pointed out, this year we would be signing Alford as the fourth cornerback on the roster as opposed to last year when he was signed to be a number 2 or 3. I would never sign him as a number 2 or 3, but am ok with his injury history as a number 4.

Because before he was signed to be CB2 not CB4.

I'm still waiting for the better option.

You can keep asserting this all you like, but he was CB2 or CB3 most of last season and was good enough to help push Malcolm Butler into short-lived retirement.

I know you have a lot of faith in Gladney as a first-rounder who got snaps on a bad defense two years ago, but we'll probably see more from Alford than you expect.

Probably will. I actually don't expect much from Gladney, he could be anything, but yes I expect he will play 50% of snaps.

Keep waiting. I'm not doing homework for you. Go ask your bro Keim :D

You're not doing homework for me. My assertion is that there isn't a better value option.

You're the one saying we shouldn't sign him. I'm asking you to do your own homework.

I mean, you're now literally trying to say the Cards have NO BETTER OPTION than to re-sign Alford. Be more irrational, please.

OK. Who? Who exactly is a better option for CB4 that would play for vet min or close to it?
