Not sure how many of you watch this show on Bravo, but it's one of the best poker shows out there....we've watched it religiously since it first came out either last year or the year before.

Anyways, they were filming this past weekend in Vegas at the Palms, so my wife, myself and our neighbors trekked up there to get in on a filming of it...

Turned out to be just a great time...all girls at the table, which kind of sucked since maybe 3 of them really knew how to play well, but it was still fun. The thrills were getting to see Phil Gordon, the poker pro host. We saw him in the bathroom, and my neighbor said something about how slow the game is, and he's all "it's horrible"...lol.

I got to shake hands with Joshua Molina, who produces the show. He was Jeremy on Sports Night, and also has played on the West Wing (might still be on it, I don't know). He was totally nice, thanking everyone for waiting, and for coming.

Just a good time overall and a fun experience I thought I'd share with you all...

i think that is what kind of makes it fun though, some people that know how to play, others that are just having fun, and then the last group that probably would rather not even be there but were forced into it by a publicist or agent looking for cheap exposure...

Great show...

Yeah...it is a good show...but I like to see good players at least on there...

Phil Gordon is just as tall in real life as he looks to be on TV.

Robert Thompson, the guy who says"$100, $200 blinds, SHUFFLE UP AND DEAL" smokes and sort of looked bored a lot :)

yeah, but phil helmuth instead of phil gordon? downgrade. the main reason i kept watching this show was because of gordon. it may sound stupid, but his tips to the awful celebrities really improved my game.

I purchased a little calendar from him at the end of X-Mas for about 3 dollars, giving a tip per day. I however feel that the tips that he give, are for the novice player. I consider myself average to above average, and all of his tips so far have seemed common sense.

sorry, to clarify, not his actual tips to them, but rather his indignation over their plays. he'll be shocked when they do something ******** and then he'll explain why it's the wrong move. that's where the really interesting stuff came from, imo.

gotcha. That makes sense, but being a veteran ok poker, and seeing those plays, I am thinking out loud the same sentiments that he is portraying.

btw, I am looking for a backer in the WSOP this year. If anyone wants to front the entry fee, I will split the proceeds from my win 50-50. :)

Funny, I'm doing the same. I'll split proceeds 20-80 though. :)

You suck, get outta here!

Josh Arieh found a backer for the 2004 WSOP and placed 3rd. He ended up splitting his 1.2 mil (or thereabouts) with his back!

Poker is so last year

Not when you won $4k so far this year! It has paid for my new TV among other things. I really need to keep my bankroll together, but the wife and I always find things to spend on with the winnings.

Good for New Orleans. Any, and everything that they can to bring that area back from rubble is ok in my book. I think that they are going to allow casino gaming there as well, not just Indian gaming. Would be a huge boost to the community.

I'm not kidding. If someone fronted me the 10K buy in, I'd be taking much less than 50%. 20% sounds about right to me.

And I'm pretty confident I'd have a great shot to finish in the money...how much in the money who knows.

I love you!

I had been ripping out most of my calendar, but if you want all that I have left, I can read it and give it to you, especially since you are a Gordon fan.

Interested?

P.S. I am really trying to suck up here!

I'm actually more interested in playing some of the WSOP side events like Omaha and Stud, not just Hold-Em. Omaha is a ton of fun, and I grew up playing 7 Stud...it's still my best game.

If you like poker strategy and good online discussion, visit the forums on Daniel Negreanu's site: http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-forum/. There are some good posters in there, in some of the other sections. I've had some fun discussions on there, and often run across some FCP'ers on PokerStars when I'm playing.

I feel that I could place in the money as well. I bet that a only 20% cut, you could probably ***** yourself out to someone there, (if you were in Vegas). With a larger cut, you either need to have a really good friend, or someone who is really confident in your game.

Everyone in my family loves my tourney game strategy/winnings. I almost have a backer in the $1500 buyin.

I have been there. 2+2 is also another good site. Unfortunately I have spent my bankroll right now, and I am looking at buying a new house/car so I have decided to not play in a while.

I did turn $20 into $500 online last week though.

My game is mostly HE, but I am an accomplished O8 player as well.
