Today's game is an afternoon affair between the Suns and Celtics with the game scheduled to start at 3 p.m Arizona time. This will be Isaiah Thomas's third visit to Phoenix since being traded.

Here are some comments from the ESPN Preview:

Riding two dominant performances by a new-look reserve crew, the Suns surprised the Charlotte Hornets 120-103 and Oklahoma City Thunder 118-111 on Thursday and Friday to create just their fourth two-game winning streak of the season.

They have never won three in a row this year.

A big reason for the Suns' rise in the Western rankings has been the play of Alan Williams off the Phoenix bench.

The second-year power forward had totaled 41 points in his previous 44 games before exploding for 16, 17, 11, 16 and 14 off the bench in his last five, producing three double-doubles along the way.

With Williams and rookies Tyler Ulis and Derrick Jones Jr. leading the way, the Suns' backups have outscored their Hornets and Thunder counterparts by a total of 108-45 in the last two games.

I don't think I've seen a team with such lackadaisical and poor passing as the Suns.

You mean the game has started. :)

Sorry I couldn't resist.

Maybe Ulis will get a bunch of minutes today. I like the way he runs the team.

I read that. IT has never had it so good. He should routinely call Ryan McDonough and thank him for the trade.

I'll post this here in the Suns-Celts thread. Sportswriter Doug Haller said this about Isaiah Thomas.

"Thomas has gotten better each season with the possible exception of his brief time spent with the Suns. In 2014, Phoenix signed Thomas , selling him on a sixth-man role on a team with three point guards. It didn't work out."

Haller is not an out-of-town sportswriter. He writes for Az Central/Az Republic. That is not an outsider criticizing our coaching staff for being the only one for which Thomas has played who did not help him "get better". Or our Front Office for providing a roster which "didn't work out".

If that is what a local sportswriter feels, how does the rest of the NBA look upon the Suns? Add to that our first GM (and ultimate owner) twice named himself Head Coach, with no experience. And our current owner named himself GM, also with no experience. Narcissism over results.

Our lovable losers aren't as lovable as they used to be. Just very amateur. I've used this phrase before. A major league sports team is akin to being in the public domain of its metropolitan area and State, even though privately owned. The Phoenix Suns, especially with its recent bargain basement collection of GM's and Head Coaches, is not meeting its responsibility to the local public.

On that last foul on Bledsoe, he was ahead of the pack. I'm wondering if that should have been called a break away foul or perhaps the foul was after the shot... probably the latter.

End of 1st quarter:

Celtics 22- Suns 19

After a bad start the Suns made up some ground.

I so enjoy watching Ulis. He doesn't try to force plays.

IT and Ulis with the jump ball. Celtics got the tip but it happened so quick I couldn't get an eyeball comparison on their height.

Ulis is proving he can shoot the ball.

He is 6-7 for 13 points.

Ulis, Bledsoe, Booker, Warren and Chriss are playing at the same time.

Watson rewards Ulis by keeping him in the game.

Chriss with some nice defense, 4 blocks.

IT with 4 PFs.

Halftime:

Suns 49- Celtics 42.

I think Ulis is thinking, IT does not have anything on me.

Both Tyler and IT are listed at 5'9 but side by side Tyler looks shorter? I am enjoying Ty's and chriss games today. Along with Big Sauce, the Suns future is looking bright.

I was trying to figure this out but I never got a good look on the height comparison. Certainly I think IT is more physically developed. What a great game to watch.

Now the Suns competition in the lottery needs to win.

I think IT has the height advantage by a hair.

It would help if Ulis wore a headband to be even more accurate. :)

Ulis has no problem playing with Bledsoe in a two PG lineup.

Bledsoe has no problem playing sg if the guard is a true pg. I think that is the key to the two pg lineup. At least one of the players has to be a true distributor. If they are both combo guards, it does not work.
