They may love Anderson, it's just that they may not love him enough to not trade down.
I think this is accurate. Nobody of import dislikes Anderson. I find it hard to believe he won’t develop into a solid NFL player. That said, he’s not a lock to be an instant success. The Cards have so many holes even with 2 drafts it would be hard to anticipate filling even most of them. The best way to accelerate that process would be to gain extra, especially in a draft this deep. Frankly whatever Texas does I can no longer envision the Cards not trading down. Assuming Texas does not trade down, I’m still hearing Indy wants the Cards’ pick. It seems equally logical if that move happens, the Cards will drop down one more time, possibly to the Vegas with Tennessee feeling pressure to compete fir the spot as well. I favor the Raiders’ picks as I think Tennessee finishes higher next season, thus devaluing their picks. Of course if their offer is markedly stronger it the Cards might choose it.

I'm in favour of any punditry that convinces INDY to move up and then the CARDS applying the KISS rule and selecting Anderson.

Yep I've heard a number of really smart scouts/analysts say that Anderson is NOT in the class of the Bosas or Myles Garrett. That means he's not a can't miss prospect like many are saying on this board. If the Cardinals can move down for four premium picks, they probably need to do it.

The difference between top end potential between, let's say Anderson and Van Ness isn't that great. If the Cardinals moved down to 11 and snagged Van Ness, but then also added a 2nd and a 3rd, it would be a huge win.

I'm not sold on the Titans though... especially if they are trotting out a young QB. I think their roster has a bunch of big time holes. Henry is getting old, their OL has big issues, and they lack a big time receiving threat.

I think the Raiders can coax out a 7-10 season with Garappolo.

It all depends. Anderson is about as can't miss as it comes in this draft. If you trade down and get more than one player that has long-term success and aren't just role players, the trade can be a big win. If Anderson becomes an all-pro and our extra picks are just average role players or busts, it's disastrous. I'm with the bird-in-hand camp, but it's impossible to say which will work out.

Not arguing here - I am not a scout but weren't people saying the same things about Suggs that they are about Anderson?

If Skorinski is a pro-bowl G, I would make the argument that the trade down should be to net him.

I was at the Illinois vs Ohio State game where Nick Bosa has zero tackles, zero tackles for loss, zero pressures, and zero sacks. Illinois sucked that year. If his last name wasn’t on the back of his jersey, I would have guessed he would be an undrafted free agent. Anderson is knocked for the one game vs Tennessee. Those same expert analysts questioning him now were calling Anderson a generational talent after the 2021 season.

Yeah, it's preposterous. But, hey, they all really like the postseason draft riser who is a physical specimen lol

He's not knocked just for one game.

Last year he played a ton of snaps at more traditional 4-3 defensive end. His pressure percentage halved. His pass rush win rate halved. He wasn't nearly as effective.

What he showed is that he WILL struggle as a 4-3 defensive end (4 tech and 5 tech). He's much better suited to playing as a 7 tech or 9 tech.

If you are looking for a player who can offer the versatility to play all the way from 4 tech to 9 tech, Anderson is not that guy.

This is why A LOT of smart football people are saying Wilson will go before Anderson. Wilson is more scheme versatile. He can line up 3 to 9. He's more like how Chandler Jones was in his prime.

This is the true knock on Anderson. And he's not so good that you fully overlook this issue. If we were running Vance's defense, Anderson would be 100% a slam dunk pick, but if the Cardinals are looking to move to a more traditional even front, Wilson or Van Ness make a lot of sense.

I don't you think you research this like I do. I've probably watched/read 100s of analysts/scouts break this stuff down.

What's preposterous is the lack of understanding here. Anderson is basically just a 3-4 backer type. If the Cardinals are running a 4-3 next year, he might not be a fit.

Tyree Wilson will not be a successful 9, 7, or arguable even 5 in the NFL. He’s way too damn slow to succeed from out there. I believe his path to success is being a DE in a 3-4. He’s way closer to Greg Rousseau than he is Chandler.

And Scouts rave about Darnell Wright.

I get that. Doesn't equate to Wilson being the guy. Wilson is still a late riser.

Not true at all my guy. He's been at the top of the first round for all while.

It's hilarious to call a 1st team All American a late riser. Even at the combine, the talk was about Wilson going high.

Like I said, late riser. A postseason riser. He was nothing more than a 1st-round guy when the college season ended. Now he's OMG can't miss best edge prospect in the draft with some folks. He was a first rounder after the season, not a top 5 guy. Like I said, he's a late riser. See them every draft, my guy.
