We went to a cocktail party tonight in my neighborhood and the host held a blind wine taste. The overall favorite wine as judged by the 'hood was a Chardonnay that was later revealed as Charles Shaw.
The resident sommelier that exists at every party told us that the Chardonnay had won some prestigious awards over the years. Someone claimed to have been to the Shaw winery recently and tried some at a tasting there. This same sommelier shot this guy down saying they didn't have a winery. A quick Google check revealed he was partially right, they obviously have a winery (how else would it be bottled), it's just never been open to the public.
So one of my neighbors is full of crap and I rediscovered "Two Buck Chuck" (three Buck Chuck here I guess), so it was a great night. I haven't had this wine in a long time and I was quickly reminded of the great value.
