I think pre-season is absolutely meaningless. That being said, I have been very impressed with Gabbert. His pocket awareness, accuracy, and velocity have been very impressive.
I like him to be kept as 3rd string and develop/learn the system for a year. I'm fine with Stanton as the #2.
As for the Cards looking lethargic, who cares? They're professional athletes and all they're worried about is being ready to go game 1.
Two Questions:
1. Why didn't Kerwyn Williams get any carries? I know he's our primary returner, and has a spot on the '53' locked up, but as far as I could see, he only had a KR and a PR. Was it because A) The team wanted to get a look at their other three backs, since they will only keep two of them. B) He was injured on one of the returns, or C)He's being traded and the team didn't want to risk him being hurt. I know C) isn't likely.
2. If Bucannon isn't a go for the regular season opener, is Bynes a better option due to his experience, than Reddick?
Appreciate your feedback.
With Gabbert's athleticism, I'm surprised they didn't try a QB draw. Would have been a great way to end the game.As for the last play of the game, the TV guys weren't sure if it was a missed pass by BG or a missed read by JR. However, the way BA was talking to BG after the pass, I'm thinking it was a missed pass.
Really all that matters:
Where there any serious injuries last night?
No
then success

how has tramon williams looked? my schedule has been sickening
Gameday thread Bears at Cardinals 8-19-17
According to the attached tweet Gunther didn't play last night but he wasn't listed as inactive prior to the game.
Hmm Moala and Anau aren't listed either but I know they played
This kid Anau has played very well, imo. He has a low center of gravity and a knack for getting into the backfield. Very good motor.
I agree he has definitely stood out. If it came down between him and X. Williams I would take Anau
I agree with all except for Pierre. He has been consistently been exploding off the ball & getting to the QB & make RBs change their routes while giving double teams fits. He has been exceeding expectations. I said it in another thread, but he has been the 2nd best DL by far.I have been expecting much better play from Corey Peters, Josh Mauro, Rodney Gunter, Olsen Pierre and Xavier Williams and quite frankly all of them have been a disappointment thus far, imo. Unless they start making plays, we are going to need upgrades.

Same.Who is #1.
It's #90, for me.

You should rewatch the games & less box-stat watching Mitch, c'mon.Olsen Pierre had 3 tackles (2 solo, 1 assist) versus the Cowboys. Since then, that's it. 0 tackles, 0 sacks, 0 QB hits (his 1 QB hit/sack nullified by a facemark penalty). If that's what we can expect from the 2nd best DL we are in trouble.
On the flip side, look what the Bears' DT Jonathan Bullard did Saturday night:
3 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 QB hit
In 2 games:
5 tackles, 3 TFLs, 1 QB hit
You should rewatch the games & less box-stat watching Mitch, c'mon.
This right here is just a example of what Pierre has done so far:

Handling the double teams which made Scooby's life easier by getting the tackle first while Nkemdiche & the rest cleaned it up.
There was one play he made last game where he forced the RB to bounce outside more than he would like due to beating the OL off the ball, another where the Bears were deep in their territory where he got to the RB first for a 3 yard loss, & another that he was able to keep up with the RB knocking him out of bounds for a short gain due to his motor. He also would've had a sack if Trubisky didn't duck his head at the right time that we negated to a penalty.
I wish I had my laptop so I could show you clips of what I'm talking about if you won't rewatch the game. The numbers might not be there, but the impact definitely has.
