If they want to save money on the cap, trade or cut Warner. He is a luxury, not a neccessity. Leinart is the starter. He needs to play. We don't need a QB controversy. It seems like one logical solution. Cutting shipp is a no brainer. I would consider getting rid of Rackers as well.

A solution of sorts, no doubt... but, I wouldn't ascribe the term logical to it. It would seem to me, that anyone who was part of this solar system knows that Warner was certainly not a simple luxury last season, and could be an absolute neccesity in future. As for Shipp; I agree. It seems to me, that he'll be gone with the next significant signing.

I find it strange that trading Fitzgerald is logical, a guy that lines up every down and has made 2 Pro Bowls by the age of 24, but trading an aging backup QB is off limits. I love Warner, but this team needs to trim some fat and in the end winning is all that matters.

I would agree with you but you are a Cowboys fan so you are wrong for reasons that go beyond our material sphere.

.....

There is 5 off the top of my head.
Today is the weirdest day I have ever experienced on ASFN. Everyone who disagrees with me is proving my points instead of theirs.

Everyone of those teams you just mentioned had their season go down the toilet when their #1 went out. Do you think for a minute that they would not have loved to have Warner on their team last year???????

You could also add Jake Delhomme to that list.

Apples and oranges. Not even remotely the same. Think about it.

As far as the "We're not the matt Leinarts" comment, come on. Its similar to Philip Rivers in San Diego. You don't invest what they have invested in Matt for him to sit behind a QB like Warner who has a losing record as a starter and is nearing the end of his career.

How can you trash my anology only to come up with that??

Drew Brees was a FA and commanded WWWAAAAAYYYYY more than what we are paying Warner. He also wasn't anywhere near the end of his career. To top it all off, they likely would have been better off just cutting Rivers.

I am not saying Warner should be the starter. With the way QBs have been going down lately, having an able #2 like him is a valuable commodity.
It makes way too much sense.
Then why are you the only one who thinks so?

Whoops. Sorry. Not the point I was trying to make.

I like Warner when he is on the field (off field nother story) but his play on the field is great. I was happy to have him last year, and I am happy to pay him 4 mil to be around this year.

I was just trying to point out there are certainly not 31 other teams that DON'T have a fragile QB.

His play on the field is more than adequate for a backup, but I wouldn't call it great.

scared pissless Timm Rosenbach.

nothing was so discouraging as seeing a once promising, fearless and cocky QB just throwing the ball away the minute anybody got within five yards of him.

I have never seen anything like it

The situation with his bonuses that he made public. No problem with any of it but the fact it was made public was a joke. I don't know whether it was his agents fault or not but it was bush league. You either make the number to aquire bonuses or you don't, there is no close.....there is a thread on it somewhere.

I recall the situation, but never heard that he personally made it public.

Yeah, you never know whether it is the agent 100% or not. I dunno. just a bad situation that should never go public.

I makes either the Cardinals look cheap or Warner's agent so stupid that he cannot understand numbers and what they mean.....but we are off topic.

Warner is a nice commodity to have. Especially with the questions surrounding Leinart.

No, you couldn't, because Carolina had EVERY quarterback on its roster get hurt last year. They had David Carr, who they believed was comparable to Warner, and he got hurt right after Delhomme, then Testaverde got hurt. Carolina just had awful luck.

The rest of your point is valid.
