Gambo had Kidd on, and Kidd confirmed he wants the job. That's the kind of hire it would be hard for me to look past and enjoy watching the team tbh. I can't root for Kidd.

To be clear, I've rooted for plenty of people who have done things that don't deserve appreciation. But Kidd though just feels different. May have been my age at the time of his transgression; may be the vibe I get from him; but I just can't.

It would be like taking my favorite sandwich and smothering it with mayo. I may love the sandwich, but I have a borderline irrational dislike for mayo, and it would make it impossible to enjoy eating what I otherwise would love.

that might make me give up on the team for a while. But I can totally see McD doing something this idiotic. Even bringing him in for an interview would be mind-boggling.

I don't like mayo either.

My concern is the Suns let the better candidates slip away and are left with marginal choices.

Although it’s not been mentioned, that’s what a scott skiles hiring would do for me.

I'm with you. When I get a turkey club sandwich at 5 And Diner, I order it with French dressing on the sandwich instead of mayo. I have to remind the wait staff each time to not just enter it into the computer, but say it out loud to the short order cook as well.

And as much as I don't think it would help anyone to consider Triano for permanent Head Coach because he said he didn't want it, I wouldn't hire one just because he says that he does want it. A job offer is about how it will affect the employer. Kidd has too many negatives on his resume.

Well. After ELindholm said JVG was his "dream choice" for head coach I decided to think about it more. There is merit there.

Made the playoffs in 9 of 11 years as a head coach.
Survived in New York for 7 years as head coach.
Son of a head coach.
Currently coaches with USA Basketball and reportedly does very well.
Very smart.
In touch with the game through media job, watches all the players in the league all the time (this helped Kerr).
Doesn't cut players any slack (in contrast to EW).

I have turned around on this guy. I would be happy to have him as head coach. If what we want is a veteran, proven commodity rather than a new "up and comer" then he is probably the best of that bunch. He is also probably smart enough to keep Triano as an assistant and make it work.

Only problem there is that his pedigree will probably make him want more power than we're willing to give.

As in wanting McD's job? I would give a coach say in personnel matters. A GM is a fool not to get that input.

Than we're willing to give, no. Than the know-it-all Managing General Partner is willing to give, yes. And therein lies the problem. The ongoing problem.

This is just a PR move. Budenholzer is a top 10 coach in the league and will cost serious $$, do any of you seriously think Sarver will pay up for him?

This is just so that it looks like the Suns actually put in some effort for their coaching search and to show that one of the top coaches in the league interviewed for the job.

Once Budenholzer names his price, Sarver will kick his ass out the door. Then hire the cheapest coach possible and say “we interviewed a bunch of people even some of the better ones in the league but we still thought this guy was the best fit”.

I really didn't care too much about the coaching issue, because I only consider a handful of NBA coaches impactful on the positive side... Pop, carlisle, kerr, dantoni, spo, budenholzer, stevens

If we get budenholzer, hell yeah! Hopefully no compensation, and atlanta just wants out of the contract.

I don't think I'd even give up the Mia pick, we can give up 31 ( but i wanted that to dump dudley)

If they could come to terms with Budenholzer, what assets would you be willing to give up to Atlanta as compensation?

He resigned the President of Basketball operations job, a new GM came in and is cleaning house. A case could be made for him to leave without compensation. He would be a good hire.

This is actually big news. Getting permission and Bud actually setting up the appointment means two things.

1. He is really interested in coming here.
2. Compensation, if any, has already been discussed and probably agreed upon.

I think there is a good chance that they will let him go without compensation because there was a regime change and they probably were considering letting him go anyway. This gets them out of paying him for not working. If there is any compensation, it is pick #31 at most.

This hire would make so much sense on every level.

McD has said money won’t be a hang up for a coach. Now what numbers he has in mind when he says that I don’t know. But if they are willing to give upwards of 6-8 mil than money shouldn’t be a problem.

The Suns would likely have to pay top dollar for him which is fine by me.

Budenholzer, a Holbrook native, led the Hawks to the playoffs four of his first five seasons and was the NBA Coach of the Year in 2014-15 when he led Atlanta to a 60-22 record and a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Hawks, in the midst of a rebuild, finished 24-58 this season.

Budenholzer has two years and $14 million left on his contract, so the Suns’ interest would seem to indicate they are willing to pay top dollar to land an experienced NBA coach, something that hasn’t been the case with their recent coaching hires.

Pay him the money. Give him a say in player personnel matters. Throw the Hawks a couple million $ as compensation and lets move on to the draft.

Yup. He is an Arizona native born in Holbrook.
