I'm still not sure if I understand the trade sending Valverde to Houston but one cool thing is it brought Chris Burke to the D-Backs. He is from Louisville, KY which is pretty much where I'm from (on the Indiana side tho) and I know his cousin and uncle so it's neat to have him with the D-Backs now.

My question is, what do you guys think his role will be? I would imagine he will not start as long as we have Hudson at 2nd. He is a pretty solid utility player to have off the bench as a pinch hitter or runner or fill in for injured players as he can play a lot of positions.

I would guess he will be kindof the utility type of role, what do you guys think?

Super utility role as the backup for the middle infield as well as all three outfield spots. He'll also probably be the second pinch hitting option, provided that Chad Tracy is ready by opening day.

He plays the super utility guy, and serves as veteran insurance incase Hudson decides he doesn't wanna re-sign and Arizona in turn trades him.

Yeah. Definitely utility type of role. Wasn't this guy the 10th pick in the draft?
Yea something like that. He is a pretty solid player, and a great role player. He's one of those guys that just wants to win and will contribute however he can and won't complain about where or when he plays. I figured he would be the main utility man but I just wanted to see what you all thought.

If he is as instrumental in Arizona's success as my favorite D'back -- Craig Counsell -- I'll be very happy.

he could be the counsell type. watching his film he shows great hustle. i just hope he's a pain in the A for the other teams. That's all i want from bench players. like Q McCracken *sp*....he even made me mad. haha

With Augie back, Bonafacio will be up at some point, and Tony Clark not being resigned, I bet Burke will get more time at 1B than we think.
