I agree with bringing CJ back. He did an awesome job last year. With him & DJ they both could be kept fresh by sharing the load.

So a guy that might make what 5 ST tackles all year is more valuable than a guy that could potentially provide one of the better 1-2 punches at RB in the league? A guy that if DJ did happen to go down is proven, capable, was very productive last year?

Put Ellington on ST until he inevitably gets injured then sign a scrub off the street like we did last season.

Then sign him if DJ gets injured.

The fact of the matter is, backups must play special teams because the roster is limited. If he's willing and able to do that, fine. Otherwise, the cruel mathematics of the league mean we probably won't bring him back.

I think some positions are important enough to a football team that not all can be expected to play special teams. Some of your backs must but I do not think the primary backup who spells the starter at the running back position has to... by the same token that I do not see Stanton playing special teams :)

From what we have learned in the past, you can't have too many solid RB's. We definitely need to re-sign CJ2k for the production he provides on the field and the teammate he is off the field. In addition, we will basically have a very young RB who has been nicked up a lot in year 1. How will he hold up with a heavy load in year 2?

We also can't count on Ellington to stay healthy. I think we need to draft/sign an RB to take/upgrade Stepfan Taylors spot on the roster. I don't see the value he brings to this team.

For the right price, would definitely like him back.

Ellington just isnt dependable to stay healthy. And I was more impressed by CJ as a runner. Better vision. Seems to run tougher. Underrated in blocking.

Not to mention now that David is the clear #1, we cant have Ellington pouting. Not that he would, but you never know.

People forget that we have lost 2-3 rbs to injury a lot lately. You need quality depth there so you don't end up with kerwynn Williams at RB n the playoffs

And here is something I thought I would never say about Chris Johnson, he appears to be a great teammate and a guy the young players look up to and he is there for them as a mentor...

This. Arians has said he's a leader in the locker room.

I think his importance to the team is tremendously underrated.

I have a feeling that both he and the Cards have a silent agreement to keep him out of the news, and on the back burner. He does not need OTA's or TC-----he can come in with no real need other than to get into football shape. I think he will be a very late acquisition. I just have a feeling about that----------------

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. 3 RBs that don't play special teams is just bad math. Maybe they are keeping him on the back burner to see how special teams line up with new additions. I heard Tyvon Branch is good on ST. So that helps. I guess it would help to have Jaron Brown and Jefferson settled one way or the other.

If he gets the money and the starting job...good for CJ2k (he deserves it). They have Ajai, so will most likely be a split carry situation. If money is similar, I would expect him to stay in Arizona. Good news is we will know by the end of the week.

I'll be bummed if we lose him! With him we were the BEST running team in the NFL. The first time EVER we were ranked that high. DO NOT LET HIM WALK KEIM!

I hope we don't lose him.

If we do, there's some guys in the draft and Arian Foster is a FA.
