the guy is ultra-fast but i want the Cards to get a young RB that can be an everydown back.
I like those backs at the top of the draft as much as the next guy, but the realit is the Cards don't really need an every-down back. They've got Edge, who is one helluva grinder at this point in his career (I mean that as a compliment). He's got at least another couple years in him in that role, but he does need to be willing to give 10-15 touches to a back like Johnson.

If we can get a guy like Johnson in the second, I think our offense becomes very, very dangerous.

If we get a guy like Stewart, I think we need to cut Edge because he'd be repetative and I could see a situation where some angst builds in the backfield, whereas Johnson would compliment him very nicely.

I see your point. But you also need to remember he had ECU caliber Offensive Linekman going up against the likes of those squads.
Yeah, but he'll have Arizona Cardinal caliber offensive linemen in the NFL :p.

i see your point but there was tlak of cutting Edge this year. I can see a Bettis/Parker type combo but then where are you after a year or two. With a Stewart or Mendenhall you're likley to have a guy who takes over Edge's full time role. I think Edge is a pretty good teammate and would accept a rookie. He just seems that way to me.

Excellent change of pace guy early in his career --

I think an excellent pick at #51.

I would love him also, watched a bunch of ECU games this year because I was betting on them alot. Guy has some of the most rediculous speed I have ever seen, now the teams they were playing weren't world beaters....but speed is still speed. Nobody else was even CLOSE to him speed wise, and he has that ability to fall forward when hit that is huge in the NFL.

Ludicrous speed!

He's gone plaid

Seriously he would rock in the second. I wouldn't even mind if the Cards traded up into early 2nd, late 1st to get a player that could terrify defenses.

Yeah he is crazy fast!!

What is his injury history? HOLY COW I thought it was on Fast Forward the whole time but the other players on the field were still moving slow :)

Savage signs off on him as a PLAYMAKER! Yup we could use this kid.

If the Cards draft him and he does well I'm gonna call him Chris "Plaid" Johnson.

Bob Kemp says that he's a track guy playing football. The Cards haven't had much luck developing those kinds of players.

Let's See... Speed, Quickness, acceleration, tough to bring down, good hands, makes guys miss... hmmm... we have no use for someone like that... see LT and AP... we prefer those "no miss' types like Thomas Jones, JJ Arrington, Adrian Murrell, AARP Emmit, etc.

Isn't Skip Holtz the East Carolina coach? Cut his teeth making UConn football a halfway decent program, then moved on to resurrect East Carolina, if I remember correctly.

Any day now, some big program is going to take a chance on Skip Holtz, my Irish brother. Walk-on WR, unpaid assistant coach in South Bend, then was hired by Bobby Bowden at FSU, doing something I don't remember.

After UConn, before ECU, he was a coach under Lou Holtz at South Carolina, serving the last two years as offensive coordinator, before being fired by Steve Spurrier when he took over.

Been a head coach twice. Won at both places. Still young.

Watching the highlight reel -- i was looking for examples of him running through tackles --

I only saw a couple times where he had any contact -- but as you would expect on a highlight reel, he ran through it.

He isnt "straight line-sh" like some track guys are -- he definately has some nice open field moves.

Chris Johnson basically represents what we all hoped the Cardinals would be getting with JJ Arrington -- a smaller, fast explosive back.
