Wow. Have we forgotten how good Ellington is already?
It seems like it.

That's what I'm sayin. Ellington's injury's have been frustrating. But he is very talented. But I wouldnt rush him back. Let him get 100% healthy.

CJ's acclimation into this offense and team as been surprisingly easy. I always thought a back that good could possibly still have some juice left and he does, but whenever a back turns thirty you never know. Humble at least from every interview I have seen and hits the hole like a physical back... two things I never knew about the guy, and he seems to be a great fit for the Cardinals :)

its happened a lot this year.

I am fine with CJ playing Mendenhall and Juke playing his rookie role. It worked GREAT for him and the team.

But to marginalize his efforts and say we waste yards having him on the field is revisionist history.

Yea, I agree. CJ is a nice luxury to have so they don't have to rush Ellington back in to action too early but I hope people do not sleep on what Ellington can do for this offense.

I believe Ellington can contribute if used the right way. Most of his runs need to be outside the tackles and swing passes. He needs space to be effective. I think 10-12 touches for Ellington is enough with CJ getting 15-20 touches. This can still give DJ 5-7 touches. If our RBs get 35-40 touches a game and then Fitz sees 8-10 then we have the ball in the hands of the best playmakers with JB seeing 4-5 touches. Ten touches to the TEs and other WRs and this means running 60+ plays which means the offense is controlling the game and moving the ball and scoring.

I am not sure that Ellington is ready to come back just yet. But with both Ellington and CJ in the game at the same time, this can cause a lot of trouble for the defense. Ellington is great in space and a good receiver, both backs are fast enough and elusive enough to take it to the bank at any time.

To not overload Ellington you can also work in DJ as he develops and we have a three headed monster. With JJ Nelson back along with John Brown and Fitz we have a very potent offense.

I have not forgotten how good Ellington is. I just never thought he was that good. But I wasn't sure because of the line he was running behind. Ellington is small, he has wiggle, but both Johnsons are faster than him and bigger and harder to take down. Ellington goes down fairly easy.

I am willing to have my mind changed, but this is what I think at the moment.

Chris Johnson isn't faster then Ellington when both are healthy at this point. Problem is, Ellington gets banged up a lot.

You think CJ is running higher that a 4.5 40 now? I am not arguing, I am asking. AE's 40 coming out of college was 4.5 and with his injury history, I am sure it has not gotten better, even when healthy. I also think that CJ is much more likely to run better in gear that AE simply because he is bigger and can carry it better.

Anyway. That's my logic behind the statement. The only way to really tell is to line them both up in pads and have them run.

Talking about 40 times is pointless. Running backs don't run a 40 yard dash after taking a hand-off. They duck, dive, zig, zag, squeeze, etc. while navigating running lanes between clashing 300 pound gorillas. In game 1, Ellington played extremely fast. He was exploding through holes faster than CJ has been in games 2 and 3. At this point, Ellington is definitely quicker on the field when they are both healthy. CJ is more savvy at being patient and finding holes though. Ellington's quickness with CJ's experience and vision would be ideal.

I'm talking about what I see on the field... which is one guy still has breakaway speed and squirt and the other doesn't.

do you really believe that Johnson still has 4.3 speed which he had coming out of college?

We may not be able to run a lot of two back sets if we have to use two tight end sets to hold the pocket. Depends on how well our O Line protects.

Juke had a sore hammy at the combine so his 40 time was slower than normal. Just watch him on the field and he is FAST.

It would be fun to see Juke, CJ, DJ, JB, P2 and JJ in a 40 yd dash race.

Who should I start in fantasy football johnson or Ellington

Rams shmams....I have both 2 and I am starting CJ.

Like I said before. If Ellington is playing Sunday, I would love to see a setup were both CJ and AE are in at the same time.

I don't see CJ running higher than 4.5 or even 4.5. If he is not banged up he should not be more than a step or two slower than his combine time of 4.24. He looked very fast against SF in his 30 yard run when he moved straight ahead. We just have several speedy runners/receivers on our team. JJ scored the fastest 40 in this years combine at 4.28.
