Chris Paul is not a great defender not sure why people equate his quick hands and a few steals to great defense, entirely different thing. If Nash had quick hands that doesn't make him a good defender, Paul can take chances like Parker because he has big guys down low to play D when he gets burned which is often.
a few steals? the guy leads the league in steals no? that should count for something. you know most PGs have difficulty playing defense because of all of the pick plays in half court sets. but the guy lead the league in steals. a couple of years ago you probably would of argued with anyone that nash was clearly the best player in the game despite the fact that he has never been a good defender. so now you shouldn't try to call out another PG for lack of defense....especially when the guy leads the league in steals. he had a triple double vs. dallas with 10+ steals for cryin out loud.

I don't care if he got 17 dimes, as long as he didn't get 30 points. Conversely, he can have 30 points if he only gets 7 assists or so.

You just can't let him have both. I prefer to give him his points and take away the passing lanes...the Steve Nash Strategy.
that's the thing....it's hard to take one or the other away because he does both. then when you take one away he doesn't get flustered. alot of PG start turning the ball over in such conditions. The guy has averaged 1.3 turnovers per playoff game. that is incredible. he just makes the right decision 9 of 10 times. it's incredible to watch. he had one poor game against dallas and ironically the mavs won.

Against guys like Kobe, LeBron, CP3...you just do what you can. You have to limit them to something, and then hope the hell they fail at that something that day.

And the way he gets the steals is even more amazing. He often steals it from the PG in front of him, using incredible timing and jumping, moving explosion. He embarassed Nash this way many times in crucial 4th quarters to win close games this season.

I believe only Banks and Lowry could really defend him well in this league, with their combination of strength and speed.

yup the guy is special......I hate to say it but the torch has been clearly passed from stevie IMO. and I love steve he is definitely my favorite PG even over kidd. I love watching paul and deron williams go at it. those two are special and will be for some time. williams actually was drafted over him no? and they have already had some great contests vs. each other both holding their own. williams is one of my hometown guys too..from DFW.

You must have missed the part where I said CP3 IS the best PG in the game right now, but he is not in the best player in the league discussion yet.

Their last meeting, Kobe guarded Paul and he shot 4-13. NO ONE stops Kobe.

So what? 17 assists makeup for it and illustrate what a great player he is. You don't gotta argue about it, because it's not gonna work.

Kobe's 29, 10 and 8, and his outperforming CP3 in the last 5 minutes of the game, with 4 points and 2 big assists (3 point bombs by Fish and Sasha) to Paul's 2 points and 1 assist, plus Kobe's 53% shooting in the game illustrate what a great player he is. You don't gotta argue about it, because it's not going to work.
