Best player in the league right now. Period. Kobe is great, but he doesn't control his entire offense like Paul does.

I mean right now he has 30 points and 12 assist's.. Come on! That's Nash on steroids (and with a chip on his shoulder..lol).

The argument can be made, as paul makes others better more effectively than anyone, and he can finish himself, he is a beast. CP3 is also a class act, unlike many other NBA stars.

after watching tonights game i def agree with you and i was gonna make a thread exactly like this..

i thank god we didn't have to face the hornets and get blown out by 20 every game..

i didn't really focus on paul on the few suns games i watched but if you focus on him and his abilities it is scary how good he is .. and what is it ? his third year in the league.. sky is the limit for that kid..

And I don't want this to be an anti-Kobe thread. Believe it or not, I'm happy he finally won it. Chris Paul will get his next season I bet.

CP is sweet, when David West was getting out of line, CP clearly told him to hold on, and then to shut the f up. The guy is a great leader and perfect role players. Apparently the entire team loves him, and he is surrounded by great talent. Watching them dismantle the Spurs really makes you see how far we have fallen. It's amazing how fast the wheels fell off.

He didnt win it this year simply because he did whine and complain all offseason about the city he was playing in, on top of publicly dissing his teammates and demanding a trade.

Oh wait, that was the actual MVP winner...

Not quite yet, but he will be in about 3 years when Kobe tails off and the kid who is wicked already improves even more. But he's not there yet (Kobe is also having some sick playoff games too).

kobe has been the best player over the last few years consistently.....other players have had some great years too but kobe has been a consistent one man show til this year and he wins mvp because of his ability to win with teammates. but IMO as I've said for a while now.....chris paul should be the MVP of the league based on this year. not last year or next year....this year. he is the league's best player this season....period. I hope that he and kobe square off in the WCF because all I have to say is:

I agree. I hope they see each other so Kobe can show Chris Paul why his team is #1 in the west. Just like he showed him in thier last meeting.

be careful what you hope for. the hornets are playing at a different level compared to the other WC teams IMO. even better than LA currently. I think the lakers would have it easier playing the spurs IMO. the spurs aren't out yet....but the hornets are dangerous. they aren't playing like a team that lacks experience or that can't handle the pressure.

Dont get me wrong. Spurs are definately easier then the Hornets. But its 2-0...lets be realistic here. We're playing the Hornets. Also...Lakers will definately be a better match up then spurs are. Just like the Hornets, the Lakeshow is young and atheltic aswell. Get ready for a great series!

We were supposed to quake in our boots for the greatest 8 seed of all time, the high scoring and hungry Nugs. Be careful what you wish for, is what someone told me on this board, regarding the Nugs.

I also wished for the Jazz...

And I also wished for the Nooch in the WCF.

Lakers and Nooch match up well. Will be a nice, hard-fought series that I feel the Lakers will win in 6 or 7.

Ah, found it....

Be careful what you wish for...just saying. I've watched the last 10 games from Denver and I have to say they they have more players other than CA & AI. J.R. Smith, Kleiza & K. Mart have been playing great at the right time. They have managed to beat the Suns , Rockets, Mavs, GS (twice). They have only lost to Utah (in Utah) in the last 10 games that is a contender.
The Lakers have managed to win 3 from Denver but this is the best man to man match up between all teams in the first round. It won't be a sweep or no where near it. Your better option is the Mavs.
I can see a the Mavs winning 1 game but a see a real battle with Denver. If the Lakers run with Denver, they will be in trouble. The Lakers are going to have should slow the game and clog up the interior. If there interior defense is sup par, Denver will give them a hard time. Interior defense is the Lakers weakness and if they don't protect it, AI will take advantage of it. Mavs don't have the people to do that. Kidd hasn't been his ol' self with the Mavs so that is an advantage for the Lakers. Josh Howard has also been less of a threat as well. Your best bet is the Mavs...no doubt.

By the way, congrats on winning the #1 seed.

So far what I wish for has been very kind to the Lakers; I hope that holds true...

I don't know why anybody is bringing up seeding. This year was a fluke in itself. Very few games separated the top 6 teams. Nobody ran away with it.

The Hornets look amazing against the defending champs. If your a Lakers fan and say your not worried about the Hornets...your lying. Just like I would say if your a Hornets fan and you said you didn't think the Lakers were any good...you would be lying.

Nobody can stop Kobe. Nobody can stop CP3. I think a series might go 7. Usually I would say if the game 7 is close I would give the edge to the Lakers. However, in this case I don't think it applies. The Hornets can go toe to toe with anybody in close game.

If it gets there...Hornets in 7.
