Match up nicely? You have no answer to West and Paul...

They have no answer for Kobe, at all. Nor for Pau on the offensive end. Pau also takes away Tyson's backdoor lob which gets most of his points.

West hasn't done much against the Lakers...we defend him very well. He didn't hit for his average in any game against us, only going over 20 one time and the others were 12 pt, 14 pt type games. Lamar's length frustrates him.

The key to Paul is to limit either his passing or his scoring...doing one is enough. He's going to kill you somehow, but you have to dictate how. We did that in the last game as well.

The one guy on the whole team that can make or break the series is Peja. Lakers have a tendancy to "forget" about shooters at the three point line, and he can make us pay. If he heats up, our defensive strategy against Paul is on shaky ground.

But no, we matchup just fine with the Nooch. Have all year.

The Hornets look amazing against the defending champs. If your a Lakers fan and say your not worried about the Hornets...your lying. Just like I would say if your a Hornets fan and you said you didn't think the Lakers were any good...you would be lying.

Who said I'm not worried about them? I prefer them but I think it will be a 6 or 7 game series. The Lakers will win, IMO, because we have favorable matchups and we have home court. That gives a helpful jump if you can get up on a team 2-0 (as the Nooch just did) because the road team starts to grip being down and afraid of the split.

If the Nooch had the number one seed, I'd give them the edge in a 7 game series.

By no means do I not "fear" them...but I am confident we can beat them.

Did I say he was 3 years away from being great? No. Clearly I did not. He's already great.

But Kobe's better. Flat out, all around, he's better. He will be for another 2-3 years, at which point the torch of "best player in the NBA" will not be passed to LeBron, but to Chris Paul. GREATEST in the game, not merely "great."

No, the Lakers consistently got monster leads all year long and then cruised playing poor, chucking ball. Go read the Lakers thread and you'll see me bitching about it all year.

30 point leads would become 3-5 point games all to often.

Wow, so all those leads were a direct result of the Lakers cruising and not because the other teams got hot? I saw every game and I think differently. I wonder if all those other teams that lost big leads were cruising too?
I thought games were based on momentum spurts or maybe most players are wrong when they say that?

He is definately a great player now. But its seems like everyone forgot that the Lakers have thier very own great player. Home Court advantage will also play a great deal in the series.

He's been the best player all year and so far the best player in the playoffs....not debatable in my opinion at least as far as playoffs go. and don't forget he leads the league in steals. I think paul then kobe and lebron. lebron is a marvel as well. kobe is not clearly the best player in the league......in fact everyone keeps saying that he's been the best but until this season when his team got better......the most dominant player in the game had no more success than james has had in cleveland the last couple of years. heck james made it to the finals with a bunch of scrubs.

of course it's subjective. but many feel paul is the best player this year. I am a dallas fan....I do not care who wins this thing. In reality it bugged me seeing paul torch dallas and if he loses I won't lose any sleep because he killed my favorite team. but IMO from a neutral standpoint because I don't dispise kobe as some suns fans do....and i am not a lakers fan......I think paul had a better season and is playing better in the playoffs. therefore at the present time I think paul is the best player in the game.

Also, LBJ is averaging 30/9/8 this post season. Kobe is at 34/6/5. Paul has 23/12/5. He's probably playing the 3rd best in the post-season right now (behind kobe and lebron).

Don't try and derail the Laker haters with facts. Chris Paul had a great game, he MUST be the best player in the league.. no.. he's the best player of all time! Everyone knows that a great playoff game makes you the best of all time.

Some of you people are just on another planet. You should have titled this thread with what you really meant to say. "Chris Paul is the best player in the NBA because Kobe is a Laker and I hate the Lakers."
