WOW!! Now that's what I'm talking about!!! Tremendous praise coming from one of the toughest guys I have ever had the pleasure of knowing (Butler):

"Probably the best player, in my opinion, that I’ve had in my eight years is Carlos Gonzalez. And I am going to tell you right now he is right behind that kid. I think this kid is going to have a better career than I had. Eaton from the left side adds that extra energy that you need at the top of the lineup. You’ll see."

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Towers/Gibby - give this kid a shot!!! Dumpy CY during the break and give the kid his chance!!

Last night, with a batting average of .206, Chris Young went 0-4 with 2 strikeouts and left three left on base.

Upton went 0-5 with a strikeout and left five runners on base.

That's 0-9 with 3 strikeouts and eight left on base between them.

The only other position player who didn't get a hit was Goldschmidt, who went 0-4 with a strikeout and a walk and left one runner on base. But his BAvg at the end of the game was a team-leading .303.

For the 3-game series, Young went 0-11 and Upton was 1-15 -- 1-26 between them. 1-for-26!!! Un-freaking-believable.

By comparison, Goldy went 6-12. And Kubel had two homeruns, playing in only two of the three games.

It looks like UptoWn and CY want out of Phoenix as much as we want them out. I wonder if there would be any takers.

KT will be a player before the deadline. This team just got swept by the lowly Padres and lost to the Dodger's backup team. They are playing absolutely pathetic baseball right now.

Haven't been paying enough attention to Eaton this year. 98 runs, 30 doubles, 4 triples, 29 steals, 38 walks, and 52 K's in 403 PA's in AA/AAA this year...sign me up. I had a bad feeling CBY was going to come back playing like his old self after that run in with the outfield wall.

edit:

Jacob Elmore is killing it at 2B too. .387 average, 78 runs, 61 rbi's, 25 doubles, 7 triples, 25 steals, 46:30 BB:K. Wouldn't mind a few more guys that can play small ball effectively, we get too reliant on homers.

I think I am on 82's bandwagon now. No more CY!

What about AJ Pollock? I think Pollock would be a huge upgrade over Young. I think ARZ needs to think about dealing both Young & Upton and get some good prospects before its too late.

Eaton got a lot of time in spring training and he impressed me with both his bat and his eye for the strike zone. I agree, he'll be up this year.

That alone should put some spark into CY and Upton. I'd make them earn their way into the lineups on a consistent basis. Keep em, and make em earn time.

Kubel, CY, Parra, Upton and Eaton should all be competing and who ever is producing at the time starts.

This treating the regular season as though it were Spring Training is the root of our problems.

I suspect you, as the rest of us, would like to see the stubborn and underachieving CY and JUp gone and figure this is the way to do it.

I would rather see the Front Office have the balls (and I don't mean baseballs) to give the jobs to the players who earn it and play them everyday (to build up their timing) and move those who are erratic in their performance by way of trades.
