Awesome movie!! Not a big Renee Zellwegger fan, but she was solid in this film, as was Crowe. And of course, the boxing scenes were extremely well done... Great story and very well produced!!!

The only problem is that it is historically inaccurate. They really did a disservice to Max Baer, who was nothing like the thug he was portrayed as in this movie. In fact, many think part of the reason why he
lost to Jim Braddock
was because he was so grief stricken over the deaths in the ring of his past opponents. This movie's saving grace, in my eye, is how Baer actually does shake Braddock's hand, and seemingly genuine, before leaving the ring.

Yeah, I've been reading about that and it seemed like they went for the Baer that the media created, and not the actual guy. The media played up his killer persona, he didn't. Although in real life in the Braddock fight he got three warnings/penalties for backhands (got that from Wikipedia).

I love that in real life, Joe Louis called Braddock "Champ" and that was the only person Louis ever called Champ...ever. Pretty awesome.

Again, I really liked the setpieces for the depression. I can't even imagine living during that time.
