JJ Abrams and his ARG's get me everytime. I always get semi-obsessed with them ant trying to figure them out, being a gamer at heart. Viral marketing at it's best!

This Cthulhu project should be awesome. I am excited to see how the monster is portrayed. It's crazy because there is another Cthulhu flick coming out in the fall, but it will not even be to the scale that the Abrams project will be...i mean, comon, it stars tori spelling! lol. but the site is pretty darn cool:

http://www.cthulhuthemovie.com/

check the trailer there...

This is not the same thing at all. This is a student film, not the JJ Abrams project.

That Sneaky J.J. Abrams and His 1-18-08
Source: Advertising Age
July 18, 2007

Advertising Age has posted a great article summing up the events that led moviegoers to find out about J.J. Abrams' secret movie, 1-18-08, which has brought in more hits at the top of ComingSoon.net's Top Previews than the big blockbusters this summer.

The article mentions the Slusho.jp tie-in site (read the Slusho company's history for possible clues) and concludes that J.J. Abrams & Co. themselves cut the teaser (normally, trailer companies do):

Who cut the "Cloverfield" trailer? Paramount isn't saying. Execs at and spokesmen for the studio did not return calls seeking comment. But a person at a postproduction house that works closely with Paramount on all its trailers told Ad Age that the trailer "came out of left field for all of us" and that the consensus was Mr. Abrams had cut the trailer himself.

We knew Abrams could keep a secret or two from his "Alias" and "Lost" days, but this is pretty impressive.

There's a phone number at the bottom of the press release. It's a 509 area code, which is Eastern Washington. I called it. It comes up with voicemail. I left a message for Ethan Haas, and said the I had an important insurance matter to discuss with him, and left my office number. I wonder what's going to come from that...LOL

I'm sure it will be OK as long as you don't get a call back from Ethan Rom.

Yeah, I thought she was taller, too.
Actually the buildings of Manhatten (sp?) might even seem much taller than the Statue at certain points. I just question that she is that close to the buildings. I can't say for sure though.

Thanks, sjk...I was referring to her lack of head.

Ok, I'm a bit disappointed...

I got nothing on the phone call. I had expected at least a recorded creepy return call or something (like the Criss Angel YouTube dealybobby).

Here's the response to my email:

Lame...especially after how cool the www.ethanhaaswasright.com website turned out with the puzzles and videos.

Ok...now I'm disappointed!

I finally got the email that was due August 1st. Here's the text:

Now is the time......

The forces working against us tried to stop us from spreading Haas's message but we have overcome them.

The battle is only beginning; you cracked the codes now use the key you uncovered to learn the truth.

Return to Haas's site www.ethanhaaswasright.com and use the key to enter a whole new world.

Ethan Haas was right about the future and now the role you play will be up to you.

You get two choices, view the warnings again, or not. Either way, you get dirceted to www.alphaomegathegame.com...A FRIGGIN' VIDEO GAME FANBOY SITE!

Looks like a RPG, maybe even an MMO!

UGH!

I don't have time to look into it right now, but I will later!

eh. Looks like Godzilla/The Thing/Aliens to me. I'm sure it'll be good, I guess I'm just not getting the suspense or hype found in this thread.

You don't count because you thought 'Transformers' was mediocre!!!

:p
...And it was, so my opinion should count even more. Look at it this way, it bodes well for this movie because I said I think it'll be good....just not good enough to warrant all this hype and suspense.

I loved Transformers, but I'm with Pariah. I have no idea what all the anticipation is about. Some giant monster terrorizes NY City - been there, done that. Hell, it's not even JJ writing or directing it.

That's the primary reason I'm not wetting my pants with anticipation over this thing. JJ's a stud, but I'm not going to get excited just because his name's attached to a project in some ethereal way.
