Yes, but hopefully the Rattlers will sign Kasper.

K9,

Are you sure Dansby will be lining up on the Weakside? Everything I read said he'd be playing on the strongside...?

PK1

99% sure. In Denny's defense (as far as I heard) the Will LB is the one who blitzes, with the SS being the primary blitzing threat on the opposite side. For at least his rookie season, Dansby will be used primarily as a blitzing LB. His main critique is that his instincts are questionable, and he doesn't make the best decisions on the field (he probably had a low Wunderlic score). Putting him in as a blitzer will minimize that liability.

I predict that Fisher v. Hayes for the strong side will be one of the most competitive battles of camp, along with Thompson v. Dansby (Thompson always seems to need the competition--Fisher was killing him in his rookie camp). It's possible that we'll see a lot of Dansby-Hayes-Fisher sets on passing downs with a TE.

Interesting...

Most of your blitzing LB's (Rosey Colvin, etc.) play the strongside. Your safety comes down to cover up the TE (unless you have an MLB that can cover) and you try to force the play to the weakside (at least inside), if it's a running play. The Bucs call it the "perfect spill to the Will' which is kind of a cool concept in that if you are gonna miss making the tackle you dang well better force him into Brooks. But I think the point is to take your pass rushing LB and match him up with the typicaly slower footed RT's (though it's not always the case). Either way I think Dansby is a talent and will be able to play either spot.

Unfortunately I think Fisher's days are limited, if not done. I was so excited for that pick a few years ago. I thought we had landed ourselves the poor man's Derrick Brooks. Who knows...might have had his knees cooperated even a little bit.

PK1

PS Way to work in the Wunderlic shot. Hehe =)

I have the same fear it's looking less and less like fisher is going to be healthy, bad news I was really counting on a breakout year from him I was really high on him but I fear the knees are going to cut his career short. Hope I'm wrong he's the perfect fit for this defense.

When the season starts, here's how I see it...

Offense

WR - Anquan Boldin
WR - Larry Fitzgerald
RT - Anthony Clement
RG - Cameron Spikes
C - Pete Kendall
LG - Leonard Davis
LT - LJ Shelton
TE - Freddie Jones
WR - Bryant Johnson
RB - Marcel Shipp
QB - Josh McCown

Defense

LE - Calvin Pace
DT - Wendell Bryant
UT - Darnell Dockett
RE - Bertrand Berry
LB - Raynoch Thompson
MB - Ronald McKinnon
LB - Gerald Hayes
CB - Renaldo Hill
SS - Adrian Wilson
FS - Dexter Jackson
CB - Duane Starks

Leonard Davis WILL be the left tackle. No question. LJ may have a chance to make the cut at one of the guard spots or RT. LJ knows he is making left tackle money and will not play left tackle. Even he said today that Leonard is the left tackle and will stay there. He seems to be under the influence that the team will not pay him left tackle money to play somewhere else on the line. I have a hunch that LJ may not be on the roster on opening day. Just a hunch, though.

Hill, Pace, and Bryant have their work cut out to be starters on opening day. I don't see any of them starting in week 1. And like it or not, Emmitt has to be beaten out soundly to lose the starting job. Marcel will need to take it away in camp. Knowing the system and being able to pick up the blitz are just as important as speed and running ability in this system. Emmitt has a huge lead in blocking and blitz pickups.

And If your prediction is right then get ready to see Josh on his back early and often. If Leonard can't hold up against Little while Playing RT, I don't know how much better he will fare against the two Elite RE's in Simeon and Jason Taylor IMO.

Coach Green released his starting lineups on both sides of the ball today. Green says that they are the starters going into training camp and to be replaced, they would need to be beaten out.

RB - Emmitt Smith

I really and I mean REALLY hope you are wrong about this. LJ was one of our better lineman last year and obviously has talent. I would really hate to see him cut, us take the cap hit and lose one of our better lineman all because he was 10 lbs over freaking weight!

What I don't understand is how Clement can play so badly last year and yet keep his job. While LJ is under fire.

Davis only had allowed 6.75 sacks as a tackle only in his second year all the while being stupidly trained as a gaurd the whole time. He was thrown in as a tackle without even training at tackle for basicly 2 years. Pace and Ogden gave up just as many and in Ogdens case more sacks their second years after training at the tackle spot there whole careers. There is no reason to believe that Davis cant be a better LT then LJ. Let them compete and see who the best man wins. What a great idea. Until Shelton gets back into shape and can participate in every practice, the best man is Davis right now.

As for Clement if he is fully healthy from the tricept and back injuries there is no reason he cant return to his pre-injury form(only 3 penalties, 3 sacks allowed). Wow I didnt realize how great of a year he had before he tore his tricept. But being fully healthy from a back problem is a big if and he is in the right direction and is about 10 lbs lighter then last year, so we will see.

Thanks for the insight, LRK-er. Maybe the Cards are going to do like the Panthers did and have LTs playing both tackle positions. It seemed to work for them. It'd be interesting.

I agree with you on Hill, Pace, & Bryant. Is it that obvious that Barron Tanner is that much better than him on the nose? Scary.

"I think that is a tremendous group," Green said. "I think he (Davis) is ready to come out and be one of the best left tackles in the National Football League."

Really? Davis has had trouble against second-year pro Calvin Pace in practice. How is he going to hold up against the league’s premier pass rushers?

He's been practicing at the LT spot for three weeks. But Like I said before I'm not convinced he play LT spot if he can't even hold Little while playing RT, what gives me confidence that he can play against Rice and Taylor, two of the premier RE right now?

I think I've figured it out--they need to sell the rest of those Emmitt Jerseys before they can bench him. It's the small print in his contract, I think.

Wow 3 weeks(which comes out to 11 practices) with no pads that makes a difference in my mind.

Can anyone really stop Rice and Taylor. Oh how I wish and Hope Berry will be the same.

As for the rest refer to post #38.
