Now, I don't know how this whole Matt-situation is going to work out. I know alot of us aren't enamored with Matt, but quickly slip into a deep depression thinking about D.A. leading this team. But, here's the thing. How many of us would have the guts to make a decision like this. To hold up your once-the defintion-of-NFL-mediocrity-but now-somewhat-respected team to a whole new wave of criticism across the country. To have your intelligence and feel for the game totally questioned. (ie; the Cards coach is a complete idiot.) Would you??

...Or would you have the guts to say. This isn't working. We're going to try and go in a different direction. I'll say this, if I was in the open sea and a great white was circling, I'd feel better with someone like Coach Whiz' by my side. Time will tell if he's made the right decisions but I can respect someone who has the guts to go against the popular vote. GO CARDS! :D

Coach seems to have no problem taking the brunt of the criticism. I like the fact he shields his players from it (aside from Leinart, and that mostly came out of his own mouth, if he leaves it shut it's all on Whis, which was the whole point). That's a leader. I thought it was telling, in Dockett's press conference yesterday, when he said Coach Whis is a man and will look you in the eye and tell you things you may not want to hear. A coach can't worry about the fickle nature of the fans or the media, he's got to have the best interests of the franchise in mind. I think he does that.

I will trust Whiz through the gates of hades.

I would hope that he stays here many years and we get to the point that we are disappointed if he don't make it to the Super Bowl or deep into the playoffs.

THe day Wonderful Whiz came into town things have been brighter and teams played better! Even if this turns up to be a season of dissapointments (meaning only 8 wins) I will stand up by him. He made it fun to stay till the last play, because we now know it means something.

Ken has such big brass balls and he loves letting everyone know it, I however don't respect it at all. He has been lucky that he has won so far because the wins won't be following this move. You can repect it if you like, I cannot. Specific things he has done show me, that he lacks character.

Ex. 1: The way he treated Edgerrin James in year one, all while Edge's wife was dying of cancer, at the expense of the offense, to show he had the bigger balls. He didn't make him a back up. He didn't even let him see the field at all! Ken miraculously inserts Edge back in the starting lineup when the playoffs rolled around, knowing full well that his ass was on the line at that point and that his grand standing backfired. Pathetic a HOF RB had to deal with behavior like that from a coach. At the time some people could look the other way. Recent developments show this should be reevaluated.

Ex. 2: Keeping Edge past the draft making it nearly impossible for him to sign in free agency. Really Ken? Again, that was Ken pouring gas on the fire, letting everyone know who had bigger balls.

Ex 3: One of the most iconic, decorated, superstar, players to ever play for the Cardinals, singles out Ken as a back stabber that says one thing to your face and does entirely different behind your back. The whole Rosenhaus factor made me doubt Anquan at the time but now it makes perfect sense. A guy that will be in our Ring of Honor one day is gone and Ken is a HUGE part of that.

Ex. 4: Matt Leinart. If he wasn't your guy, make the move earlier, plain and simple. Don't go public about how much faith you have and then play the mind games. Ken has been jerking Leinart around since day one. The hurry up package with Warner was a farce, embarassing to a young QB, but the latest treatment is beyond absurd. The fact that Leinart and the team is even dealing with this in September screams of severe mismanagement if nothing else. When asled about the Dockett press conference yesterday, he said he was "tickled" because he knew that all of the media thought it was about Leinart. Unreal. I hope he is as "tickled" when SF wins the division.

I cheer for the Cards. Always will. I will never respect Whisenhunt.

Yes. That!

I honestly believe that all Whiz cares about is that we win. And "we" is the team AND the fans. I cannot think of another coach in the NFL who cares about the fans as much as this one does. He's said it. He appreciates the phrase "In Whiz We Trust". (I've written, here, of my own experience with that.) He's bothered to run around the entirety of UoP taking a "Thank You Fans" lap.

I'm with him. He's in the meetings. He's seen every practice. He knows his men. "Leaders" are the ones who make the decisions based not on popularity and poll numbers, but on what is the right and best thing to do.

He is the best thing to happen to this franchise just edging out Mike Bidwill taking more control. Both of those happened at the perfect time.

Disagree with him as you like, but he is bonafide.

How about a rant on the other coach or coaches that got the team to the Super Bowl OR you can tell us all how Dave McGinnis or Dennis Green lead the team....the ONLY legitimate head coach aside from KW was a guy who should be in the HOF.....know who that was????

I'll try and make these short, because I've been overly long-winded of late:

1. Regardless of how it played out to the fans, when Edge's benching came, I knew he was saving him for the playoffs. I'm a total Edge fan, and I believe that. It doesn't take a genius with an engineering degree to realize a benched, rested Edge will come into the playoffs way mad and hungry and full of energy, as opposed to playing all season and averaging 2.5 - 3.0 yards per carry. He literally owned our first 2 playoff games and gave everything he had.

2. Keeping Edge past the draft had more to do with Edge flying back to bury his wife. Whis kept his roster spot secure until the very last minute. Ken wasn't "pouring gas on the fire", he was letting Edge do what he needed to do without worrying about free agency or anything else at that particular time. He did Edge a favor by saying we'll figure all this out later, after you've finished dealing with your personal biz. It wasn't helpful, contrary to what you believe, for us to keep Edge that long when everyone knew he was gone, but Coach did it out of respect. Period.

3. I never doubted Q's viewpoint on this, but I also realize there's another side to every story. Q wanted more than what he was. He isn't Fitz. He isn't even most starting WR in this league today, save a few unlucky teams. He's old and getting older and it made no sense when you have a Breaston ready to replace him.

4. He should have traded Leinart sooner. There's no excuse for having a guy ride the pine for 3 years and then suddenly right before our regular season, to say he doesn't have it. It's a failure on the QB coach and the head coach. We could have moved him last year or the year before and gotten something decent, now we'll get nothing at all.

I lost faith in Whiz, but hope I gain it back.
The collapse late in 08 was not by design, We sucked without Edges balance.
He has steel balls and that kicked him in it
blink-pause- calculated response Whisenhunt.

No other teams are going through this tripolar rigid scenerio. Stafford, Bradford, Flacco, Ryan, Sanchez, even VInce Young collapse was his own making.

Matt is cool under pressure and knows damn well he can play for any other coach on any other team without selling his soul to the devil!

Ken Whisenhunt is the devil with red hot iron balls. It might just work out?

But were in fan hell and He's turning the *****,

I think there is truth in what azsouthendzone says. Whiz isn't perfect. But his players play hard for him, and by extension, for us. So long as that remains true, I'm all in.

I agree 1000% with this post! And you didn't even mention how completely, totally, utterly Whisenhunt threw Leinart under the bus during the press conference after the first game against Houston when he compared Leinart to Kurt and said it all falls on the QB when he got sacked because Mario Williams went through Brandon Keith - quarterbacks somehow have to overcome that. http://www.azcardinals.com/photos-v...p-Day-16/90ffaf73-39e4-4259-b8ca-63dc9fac5e95

All the whiners on this thread should become 49er fans. I've rooted for this franchise for 46 years & Whiz is BY FAR the best thing that has ever happened to it. If you love Leinart that much, follow him to to his new team. As for me................"In Whiz I Trust".

I don't know about BY FAR. Not to take anything away from CKW but Coryell was no slouch either. A lot of die hard fans came from watching his Cardiac Cards. Notice I said die hard. Fans who were still pulling for the team after 25 years of futility.

Boooo.

Just because someone doesn't believe Whiz to be flawless doesn't mean they're less of a cardinals fan, it just means they disagree with you.

There is no way Leinart gives this team the best chance to win. DA may not be much better, but at least he doesn't checkdown every other pass.

You may be right, but ML isn't "checking down," he's making plays where a ton of other QBs would take a sack. He's under pretty tremendous pressure.

This O line is horrendous without a doubt, but I just don't think Leinart will be able to move the chains effectively in this offense.

^Right and I don't think DA can throw anything accurate! Hopefully Feely is good because he will be attempting lots of FG's like the first series tonight! TE open and what does DA do throws a bullet to far in front of him with ZERO touch on it...INC. of course we will be seeing lots of that!

Good stuff Darkside, but concerning #4-----he did not believe we could stretch the defense until Stephen Williams made his move during the pre-season games. Once he knew we could have Williams, and Breaston both to stretch the field, and have Fitz to go up and get it, he knew he needed to find a QB that could put the ball where we COULD FORCE opponents to defend us deep. That was the only way to clear out the box from the 8 or 9 players that opponents were stacking in the box to clog up our running game. Leinart either couldn't, (or wouldn't play that game), and was reluctant to go downfield with his throws so Whiz was forced to start either Anderson or one of the rookies. Good move on his part

As Wiz said after last weeks game you have to throw teams out of a 8 man box to open up the running game. Leinat as you say Fish hasn't done that.
