Snakester
Draft Man
What I don't like is there has been no outside the box thinking with bringing in coaches. All these guys are ex Carolina Panthers coaches that Wilks already knows except for the couple of guys being kept from the old staff. I don't like this way of thinking at all. It screams I'm going to hire all my friends so I will have nothing but yes men. Who is going to coach a guy like Baker Mayfield if we draft him? If Tom Moore was one of the coaches staying on staff we would have somebody. There is no way I would rely on Byron Leftwich to teach my new QB. He is purely an assistant and a guy in training.
This staff looks okay on defense because we all think Wilks will be running the defense, but where is the experience coming from at the coordinator spots and at QB coach. Why wasn't a guy like Chuck Pagano hired or even Jack Del Rio for the DC spot. People think Bruce Arians was bad at hiring nothing but cronies but at least guys like Tom Moore and Pratt had decades of experience behind them. What I see is a coach that might be a leader of men but doesn't know squat about bringing well qualified people in to run things.
To me this is going to be a young staff that is still in training and wet behind the ears. The Cardinals will have a strong defense, but purely a run the ball offense in the mold of the old Buddy Ryan days. The one good thing is at least we have David Johnson and Adrian Peterson to run the rock. Whoever we draft at QB will be on his own so he better be self taught and be able to pull plays out of his butt like Russell Wilson does. I'm not a Mike McCoy fan either. I just think the Cardinals can do better than McCoy. Needless to say I'm not impressed with what going on. I have a feeling that we won't be drafting our QBOTF but bringing in a vet to run the team period and that scares the hell out of me. It's one thing to have a bridge QB for maybe one season to get your guy ready and another to just throw anyone out there to run the team because he has some time in the league. I don't know about everybody else but I am sick of that approach.
I hope Michael Bidwill and Steve Keim do whats right and draft our QBOTF this year. We need that long term QB to even have a chance at having a New England Patriots type of dynasty. You can't keep having short term fixes, you have to be in it for the long haul.
