If we're going to trash corner infielders, let's be even-handed. Chad Tracy is defensively worse than Conor, by a substantial margin. His Es are pure lead-boot-and-stone-glove mistakes, whereas Conor's are largely mental -- and mental mistakes should improve with more experience -- that assumes he's getting some proper tutoring. Other than Chad's HR and Conor's rather appalling rate of hitting into DPs, offensive numbers aren't that different (Tracy OPS .787, CJ OPS .774; Tracy RBIs 57, CJ 52 with 100 less ABs)-- except Chad has almost 2.5 Ks per BB, and Conor is in the 1:1 range.
I'm fine with Tracy for now, but would consider moving him as part of a really good deal, and give Brian Barden a shot at third. At this point Tracy doesn't look to me like he'll ever be a strong defender. CJ it's still a little soon to know for sure how much he'll gain with another year of experience.
