We got there about 1:40 since I'm a wimp and don't line up in the heat. The gates were open and the crowd was in a great mood.

They gave out reversible (black and desert camo) Cards-logo booney hats at the entrance. I love free stuff. Good job Cards.

We sat in section 132 so, of course, most of the action was on the other end. But we had the 9-0 and Calais and the defensive guys warming up right in front of us. I'd hate to have to feed those guys.

Michael was in Canton so the only speakers were Arians and Keim. They had a half-baked ceremony to present the Pro Bowl jerseys. Larry wasn't even on the field at that time. He came out four or five minutes later to applause from the crowd. Note to FO: If you want to build Fan Fest traditions.... start there and make it a bigger deal. The crowd wants to cheer. Give 'em a reason.

About 20 minutes into practice I saw Honey Badger come out of the locker room. By the the time he got to the 5 yard line the crowd was starting to see him and he got a screaming ovation. People were just going nuts which was just great to hear. He acknowledged the crowd and people cheered louder. Such a great moment.

Feely continues to be a chatterbox. He's here. He's there. He's everywhere.

Calais interacted with the crowd quite a bit. He turned around to wave and acknowledged people several times. Love him.

Dumpster Dan was limping a bit. The guys seem to really like him. He got a lot of good-natured talk from them.

It was a good crowd. Lots of families with kids. Fitz is still the most popular jersey by far but there are a growing number of Peterson peeps. 9-0 is in third. Lots of kids wearing jerseys. The fan base of the future is definitely in place.

The popcorn was.the.worst.ever. I'd guess it was popped three weeks ago but what the heck. There were Arizona Cardinals football players on the field while eating it.

Go Cardinals!!:newcards: I cannot wait for the season to start.

Great report Dems. Would love to have gotten one of those hats but with my large dome I don't think they would fit. Lol. :D

Not my best effort, eh?

OK Try this: The popcorn was as stale as two-week old news. But that didn't matter. I was eating it while watching the team that's going to win Super Bowl XLlX on their home field.

Go Cardinals!!

They are a "generous" fit. :D

One more observation:

After practice, as we were walking out, a woman I didn't know said to me, "Wasn't that fun? It was such a nice thing for the team to do. It really builds community." I didn't get a hard-core fan vibe from her. She wasn't wearing Cards gear, just her new hat. But she was definitely into enjoying the atmosphere of being a Cards fan as she walked out with her family. And I thought, "This team can do that. They really can bring us together." I got the same feeling when Honey Badger came out and people started going nuts. The Cardinals community was saying, "We're behind you HB!!"

I'm stoked. A month to go!

The end of the blackouts is finally starting to show results in the Valley. Kids are now growing up watching the Cards on TV instead of the 4and9ers and Cowboys when Arizona is at home.

The cardinals were hungry and started eating the grass under their feet. I don't know why you didn't understand that.

With Petersons new contract they had to make financial cuts around the organization. Early reports (seemingly confirmed by this statement) are the cuts are coming from the cafeteria first.

Interesting!

The last time I had popcorn at UOP it was like eating a bucket of salt.
