Now former Indianapolis Colts' quarterback Sam Ehlinger is signing a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos, according to Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports.

Schultz adds that Ehlinger had multiple offers, but chose the Broncos as the best fit under head coach Sean Payton and quarterbacks coach Davis Webb. Schultz did not report who the other teams were that were interested in Ehlinger.

Ehlinger joins a quarterback room with Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham.

Ehlinger was a sixth-round pick by the Colts in the 2021 NFL draft and has been with the team the last four seasons.

For his career, he's completed 63% of his 101 pass attempts, all of which came in the 2022 season. Elhinger averaged 5.7 yards per attempt that year with three touchdowns and three interceptions, according to PFF.

The last two seasons, he has been the third quarterback on the Colts' 53-man roster, where, late last season, Ballard told The Athletic that Ehlinger was one of the "strongest voices" in Richardson's corner as he went through being benched.

On the roster at quarterback, the Colts added Daniel Jones to compete with Anthony Richardson for the starting job. Jason Bean is also on the roster, but I would anticipate that the Colts add one more quarterback, either through the draft or undrafted free agency, to compete with Bean for that potential final roster spot.
