The Crew have an undefeated record going into their road matchup against D.C. United today, but their offense has struggled.
Columbus has six goals across five MLS regular-season games, and five of those goals were scored in the first two games of the season. The Crew have been shut out in two of their last three matchups, including their latest game against New York City FC on March 22.
Against New York City, the Crew took 23 shot attempts. Those failed connections have not changed the way Columbus coach Wilfried Nancy approached the practices leading up to D.C. United.
"When we have a bad game, I support my players," Nancy said. "Yes, we could have scored more goals but the idea is not to work every day in front of the net. ... We have to size up the good moment to do it, we have to size up, also, the moments to give them structure and to let them do their own exercises."
