I'm often asked to compare Palmer to Warner. Warner could read a defense better when he came to the line than any other QB in his era. Palmer has a stronger arm and a slight bit more mobility. However reading the defense made Warner great but Palmer is just very good. I put in another post that often and nearly every time play yesterday Palmer ignored his secondary receivers and repeatedly threw into double coverage. He often had time to look, but didn't do so. He rarely audibles, while Warner could drive the OC crazy by switching constantly. This has a great deal to do with the coaching staff. This is what the NY staff dumped Warner. The Cards gave him virtual free rein and he used it to take the Cards to the big game.

Warner should be in the HOF. Palmer could yet take the Cards a long way, but he must be more consistent.

Agree. Well put.

CP is not reading the field at times and locks on to one WR even in double coverage. I'm not against taking deep shots, but when it's covered check off to another under WR.

Thing with Warner was that he knew where every WR should be on every play so he could read and react faster than any QB we have ever had.

Good post - even the announcers were baffled twice by Palmer not making an adjustment at the line or forcing a throw.

It would be difficult not to agree, Harry! There are times when Palmer needs to play smarter. I am certain he has the ability, but there are times when he just hasn't done so. . .

Doesn't sound like this coaching staff has given Palmer free reign. I though I had heard/read somewhere that he wasn't allowed to audible either.

It seems that Palmer just badly wants the deep ball to work and believes it will every time he throws deep to John Brown, sometimes to the detriment of the rest of the offense.

Good points... Of course, it should be noted that Palmer never played with the type of talent Warner had in St Louis and then again with the Cards... until now. I think an argument can be made that the offense (albeit with an older Fitz) that Palmer is currently playing with is very close, if not equal to the offense Kurt had here in AZ when they went to the Super Bowl.
And I would say that the current defense is better than the defense that went to the '09 Super Bowl.

This is on Carson...It would be right to expect that he would at least equal the level of production in terms of a Super Bowl appearance, as that of Warner.

I think our DL and LBs where superior in the Super Bowl run with the exception of the secondary... and DC coaching was better in my opinion :)

I thought I heard he is given 2 plays in the huddle and can choose between them depending on the defensive alignment.

LB's for sure. The DL is a wash IMO and the secondary today is much better...
But for sure, there is no contest with the DC...

that secondary was pretty damn good. Adrian in his prime, Rolle was a ball-hawk at S and everyone forgets that DRC played at Pro-Bowl level once he got inserted into the starting lineup. 10 picks and 45 passes defended his first 1.5 years.

honestly, it's a pretty similar D. Just doesn't have a stud like Dansby in the middle of the field. that team, like this one had a lot of problems getting pressure on the QB.

 So you're saying that Clancy Pendergast was a better DC than Bettcher?

Didn't he have housh, ocho, and Dillon? That's a pretty offense.

Nobody played with the talent Kurt had in St Louis. That was the greatest collection of offensive power ever. Don't forgot about the OL either.

yea well both are handicapped by stupid play calling by pass happy coaches- ask the saints about bounties on Cards QB's. cant run it 10 times in a playoff game or SB- or 16 times against steelers this game - oh Palmer had 2 big whoop - Kurt got his head ripped off an so will Palmer under BA
compare the carries with GSOT or any team in the history of earth! how many runs in each win to how many runs in a loss! That simple
