Troy is a freaking brilliant comic actor.

This show is probably a little smart for it's own good in the long run.

Bottle episode... ha.

Agreed...but I love smart shows like this.

On a side note, watched Community last night, Modern Family still on the DVR :)

Kevin Corrigan, one of the more underrated character actors out there. He doesn't always get much scenery to chew, but he's so good at weird and creepy. Another bit of excellent casting.

Drop dead ridiculous episode tonight.

This show just gets better and better.

without a doubt. This show has thrown all caution to the wind and is just going for it. It SUCKS that it's got such a tough time slot because it's numbers are pretty weak.

The chase through the pillow fort was freaking awesome.

Until last night, we only caught the episode when the skinny guy is running around with the girls and becomes a human dissing machine. Only caught the end last night, when they destroyed the pillow fort and the looting started.

Is the skinny guy a robot on the show or was it just that episode?

Did anyone else fall for Annie telling Jeff she still loved him? I still think they will eventually do something with those characters, I mean they had two moments where they were face to face in this episode (where Jeff tackles Annie and in the collapsed fort). Also I hope the Dean can get a few more episodes like this. He is so funny and is just like Chang where a little goes a long way but every once in a while have them be a main character in the story.

Not that it helps Community, but NBC will switch up their Thursday block on January 30th:

THURSDAYS (all beginning January 20)

8-8:30 p.m. – “Community”

8:30-9 p.m. – “PERFECT COUPLES”

9-9:30 p.m. – “The Office”

9:30-10 p.m. – “Parks and Recreation”

10-10:30 p.m. – “30 Rock”

10:30-11 p.m. – “Outsourced”

Actually, Parks and Rec is the BIG beneficiary of the switch. It's a good show anyway, but having The Office now as it's lead-in is huge.

And what do you know? Comedies in the 10-11pm block. Definitely different. Although that probably means the death of Outsourced and maybe 30 Rock as well.

Definitely agree with everything you say here. It's ridiculous, but you actually care about the characters and they do an awesome job of giving all of them a very distinct personality.

Also, when watching always pay attention to the background, there's usually something unusual happening that you might miss the first time you watch.

No clue what Perfect Couples is but it needs to be switched with Community.

Glad Parks and Rec is coming back. I like that show a lot.

Yeah, a couple of episodes ago they had a whole story in the background where Abed meets a couple and then by the end helps deliver their baby. Very clever.

It was "The Psychology of Letting Go", which aired on 10/7.

It was the episode where Pierce's mother dies. And when Brita and Annie were wrestling in the motor oil. :D

Technically he befriended a girl and fought the boyfriend, then delivered the baby. But it really doesn't matter it was a great way to tell his story that week. They normally have small things like that in each episode. In the robot cop bit there was a mention of all the girls menstruation cycles which they talked about a few weeks later.

Just watched the last two episodes and they were great in very different, yet similar ways. The one where they go to the bar is by far the most emotional this show has ever gotten and I really like what they have been doing with Troy all season. He is becoming a great person within the world they created while being absolutely hilarous. Then we get the claymation Christmas show. Once again very emotional which I like but hope they only doing a few times a season since I want Community to be the off-the-wall craziness it normally is. This season has been fantastic and to me is the best comedy on tv.

I thought the Christmas episode was good, very clever. But it wasn't the all-out zany the show usually is. This episode also shows just how much physical comedy plays into the show, especially with Chang. Here they had to rely strictly on dialogue and, while clever, gimmicky presentation with the claymation.

was thinking the same thing. It's the combo of well written comedy with great comedic actors which makes this show go. I just don't get why it does such piss poor ratings.

On a side note, how awesome would it be to see the live action version of this episode? Since pretty much all of this happened in the study room it would be quite entertaining. Though I don't know if I want to see Abed giving Chang a little loving like he supposedly did.

Easy:

Big Bang Theory
Bones

Those are 2 huge reasons why it's ratings aren't good.

I don't know if it's the above really makes a difference considering Big Bang wasn't up against it all of last year when it's numbers were just as bad or worse and Bones is a different audience... and no ratings juggernaut itself.

Doesn't ABC run Grey's Anatomy at 8 on Thursdays as well (or at least, a repeat of it)? Even in repeats, that's a pretty big show.

Last year was it's first season and let's face it, when's the last time NBC comedies did well? 3 years ago? 4? And also last year, Survivor was on at 8 on Thursdays.

EDIT: Originally, this season ABC ran My Generation at 8, but cancelled it in early October. Then they replaced it with Grey's reruns.

So last year it was Survivor (Community was a spring show--it didn't run in the fall) and this year it's Big Bang. That is the explanation.

Wow, has Theo grown up or what? Pretty good episode tonight. No where near their best but it was a good one coming off a break. Should be interesting to see if Chang is really a full member of the group or if he is only partially in it. I think he is best used in small doses. Today's show would be the most screen time I would want him to get in a show. I did like how he turned Chang into a pun.

Hopefully we see more Chang and Malcolm Jamal Warner in the future. Whoever is in charge of casting this show deserves a raise because they always seem to find the perfect guy/girl.

the Winger "Chang should be in the group" speech with Chang "changing" in every once in a while was freaking priceless.

I love this show.
