Went back and dug through some old draft guides and found the PFW 2004 Guide's bio for Darnell Dockett. Pretty amazing the physical similarities, on field production, and character concerns between the two.

Physical: very comparable size, speed, weight room strength, awesome quickness and explosion.

On field production: both had modest sack numbers and overall production. Dockett's junior year produced only 2 sacks and 7 tackles for loss.

Character: Dockett pleaded guilty to petty theft, suspended for Sugar Bowl. On field character: average worker, takes plays off, disappears at times.

and we let D90 walk

After a really good career, at times among the best DT in the league, ten years or so.

The guy could be as good or better than Dockett in the NFL. He's more gifted physically than Dockett was IMO. You just better do your homework on him and be sure. If you are sure, then nothing is wrong with taking him in the first round.

If he is on the board when we come up if SK and BA feel comfortable taking him then I trust those guys.

Nkemdiche isn't an instinctive player. That translates into a lower floor than his freakish athleticism would indicate.

Problem is Nkemdiche if rumors are true has a problem with pot. Scouts said he came off as a stoner at Combine interviews. I don't believe Dockett ever failed a drug test. With NFL cracking down on drug violations, Nkemdiche is a very risky pick.

Dockett loved the game and worked his butt off which makes him a BASK guy. I don't know enough about Nkemdiche to know if he shares that trait or is able to project it. That would be the differentiator to me.

not according to reports...he is apparently more interested in being a superstar than he is a football player.
