They pick at what 28 or 29, right? Why not take the Patriots route and trade back to get additional picks?

I agree as Calhoun & Spence could be had early in Round 2. I wouldn't try and get too cute by trading down too far and missing out on these guys.

And even if we do trade back, and both guys get swiped, we could take Kentrell Brothers. First ~5-10 picks of round 2 is a perfect spot for him.

Altho Im probably biased. Id take Brothers at 29. Much like Bucannon was "overdrafted", hes turned into a star for us. I think Brothers can be the same.

I'm the opposite, I'd take Spence at #29 because come draft time I feel Brothers will be more likely to be around when we pick in Round 2 than Spence. If Spence can run in the 4.6 range or better and answer the tough questions in the interviews, he goes no later than Round 1.

The problem with relying so much with Buc at ILB is he's a bad matchup against the Panthers team because of his size. At some point if you want to win a title Keim is going to half to take that into consideration. We need a better ILB corp & DLine to knock them off. Carolina ain't going anywhere & neither is Seattle.

I agree the D line needs to better. Specifically younger with more play makers.

I outline A'Shawn Robinson as our 1st round pick would be huge. And then if we got Kentrell Brothers in the 2nd, well my day would be made. That's a 1-2 punch that immediately fortifies our run D, and also enables CC to become more of a pass rusher again.

The guy I like is Sheldon Rankins. This guy has stud written all over him as an inside pass rusher & can play 3-4 or 4-3. He's reminds me of John Randle

This is a very tough year and as has been the case in recent years the Cards are picking too late to get a sure thing. Several names in this thread are reasonable gambles. I think the Cards need to first determine which needs can be met in free agency. Certainly the O-line can. So the real focus is the defense. I think they stay the course with Bethel. Powers is likely gone. They can pick up 1 more CB in the draft or free agency. Safeties are deep enough with or without Johnson. So it's the front 7 that needs focus. I'd love to think they'd sign a big FA, but they'll get outbid. They need to get someone at DE that can produce Dockett-like presure. Finally they need 2 OLBs. They need to move up in round 1 to about 18-20 to improve their odds. They should take another with their next pick. They also need a return man. Keim will fill in the holes. I'd like to add an ILB, but they can't fix everything.
