Using the current cap situation, I wanted to see what our competition looked like for one of the marquee RBs

1. Cleveland Browns: $25 million - Drougns Green and Suggs are still trying to figure out who the starter is
2. Arizona Cardinals: $24.5 million
3. Minnesota Vikings: $24 million - Have M. More and just drafted Fason
4. Green Bay Packers $22 million - Gado played well, and they are still paying Green
5. Seattle Seahawks: $20 million - Could still strike a deal with Alexander
6. San Francisco 49ers: $18 million - Too many needs, and still have Barlow and Gore
7. Jacksonville Jaguars: $17 million - Still paying for Fragile Fred and might not want to pay two top backs
8. Chicago Bears: $17 million - Already have Jones and Benson
9. Cincinnati Bengals: $17 million - Rudi Johnson and Chris Perry
10. San Diego Chargers: $16.5 million - LT
11. Baltimore Ravens: $16 million - If they wont pay Lewis, they're not gonna pay Alexander or Edge
12. St. Louis Rams: $14 million - Stephen Jackson
13. Houston Texans: $14 million - Reggie Bush and Wells
14. Buffalo Bills: $11 million - Mcgahee
15. New Orleans Saints: $10 million - Duce
16. Detroit Lions: $9 million - Kevin Jones
17. Philadelphia: $6.5 million - Westbrook and Moats
18. New York Giants: $3.5 million - Tiki
19. Dallas Cowboys: $3 million - Jones
20. New England Patriots: $500,000 - Dillon
21. Indianapolis Colts: Even with cap at $93.25 million - Not paying Edge
22. Carolina Panthers: $2 million over - Has expressed intrest in Alexander, but are over the cap
23. Pittsburgh Steelers: $4.5 million over - Really like willie Parker and not alot of cap space
24. Miami Dolphins: $5 million over - Ronnie Brown
25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: $9 million over - Williams
26. Atlanta Falcons: $10 million over - Dun and Duckett
27. Tennessee Titans: $14.7 million over - Way over cap and have Brown and Henry
28. Washington Redskins: $19 million over - Portis
29. Kansas City Chiefs: $19 million over - Johnson
30. Denver Broncos: $23 million over - Way over cap and have anderson and Tatum
31. New York Jets: $26 million over - Way over cap
32. Oakland Raiders: $27 million over - Way over cap

The way I see it Carolina would be our only real competition, but they'd have to make deep cuts to fit Alexander under the cap.

He could still re-sign with Seattle if they are the only ones to "come correct"(whatever that means), and no one else makes a serious offer. I'm beginning to think that is their plan.

Me personally, I'd prefer Alexander over Edge, but if ends up somewhere else, we virtually have no other competiton for Edge as a consolation prize.

Not only that, but they also have FB/RB Greg Jones who they are very happy with. If Taylor goes down, they have no problem with him being their feature guy.

Unless something changes, I don't see Edge in JAX. I hope.

If we do make a play for him, the major competition will be MIN. They have just as much cash as we do really.

In theory, the NFC West could get a lot bigger considering we have 3 teams in the top 6 in cap space and STL @ #12.

What really sucks is Seattle has nearly as much room as us...

I am more worried about Jax with concerns of going after Bentley than a RB.

Yup......they are very much in the picture....as is Cleveland (he is from Ohio) and has said that he'd like to play "closer to home".....IMO opinion, they have the inside track.

i am not big on signing the top three running backs fa. i wouldn't be disapointed either if the cardinals signed one of them. i think the draft has a few good rb that can help the cardinals get their running game started. the cardinals need a good offensive lineman and a good run blocking te. a good run blocking te is just as important in the running game as a good ol. if the cardinals are going to run off tackle to play to arrington strength, then they need a good run blocking te.

So you're saying we need a good run blocking te?.....:D
