Uh, yeah, that's a hockey team. LOL ...And yeah, there's probably a better place to post this but you guys are my "sports family", soooooooooo......

Things are eerily similar now for BOTH my Cards in football and Blues in hockey. I've been a committed fan of both teams since 67'. Not sure what that is in dog-years but it's A LOT! So many seasons of unbridled hope that were crushed by the brutal reality of disappointment.

BUT, how things have changed. The Cards are what I like to call... DANGEROUS! Meaning we have a legitimate shot at the BIG prize. The Blues have made it to the Western finals (last hurdle before playing for the Cup) for the 1st time since 2001. (15 YEARS!!! :bang:)

To say I'm giddy with excitement would be an understatement, but, knowing full-well the fickleness of sports and the elusiveness of actual winning a championship, I am staying in the moment and happily milking it for all its worth.

Just thought I'd share....A GREAT week-end to EVERYONE! :)

Unfortunately, the Blues are like the Caps and never do anything in the Playoffs.

Can you Blues' fans explain why the Gretzky/Hull combo never worked out? Was it just an age thing?

Hey! Gatorhater...

Actually, that Blues' team was pretty good but we ran into the RedWings. ( I believe they won that cup that year) A ridiculous shot by Steve Yzerman (sp?) found the net in OT and the season was over just like that. I think Gretzky only played the 1 year in St. Louis and that's because his wife (Janet Jones) was from/lived in the St. Louis area. The Blues have always been pretty good...just NOT great...and you win championships by being GREAT (...and a bit lucky) If you remember the Houston Oilers under Bum Phillips...they were pretty good, too...Just couldn't beat the Steelers. The same could be said for all those Bills teams.

I pull for the Blues, too, but I found that hockey stresses me out worse than football. The hockey season coincides with my convalescence from Cardinals football, so I only follow from a distance.

Ha! Same here. I used to follow the Blues up close, but now only from the headlines. At my age, it's better to keep your focus on one sport at a time. :p

Been following the Blues for about 40 years now. Just a few years shorter than I have been a Football Cardinals fan. They continually in years past have great regular seasons but could not put it together in the playoffs. Getting to the conference finals this year for the first time since 2001 has been a godsend for the city since the Rams left. Brought some city pride back into the people.

Lets Go Blues!!!

I think this year might be different Jake Allen needs to start in goal the rest of the way he's just better.

The team is like a machine when they are on and they play cup winning type hockey which is dump, chase, relentlessly send people into the boards with excellent goal tending. They put a twist on it by sending waves of players on the attack.

I haven't watched much in years because it just got gutted when Pronger and Al were gone. Then they were regular season juggernauts with naught in the playoffs because IMO they were soft.

I like their chances this year.

.

How did that work out? ;)

I'm sorry but you don't pull your #1 goaltender who led the nhl in save % for the year out before game 5 in the conference finals!!! Hitch dropped the ball & I said it would bite them in the butt on Sunday once I heard Elliott would be on the pine. It would be like sitting Palmer in the playoffs after a so-so performance the playoff game before. Adding more ignorance to the move he left Allen in after goal 3 & blowing 2 leads.

If not for Elliott in the wins against the Hawks & Stars the Blues wouldn't even be in the position they are now!

They're toast now:mad:

Agree 100% Hitch out thought himself. I get making the change during a game but you don't sit your #1 just to get a rise from the rest of the team. Then when he got away with it, IMO it was time to go back to Elliot. I always hated the Blues anyway after they stole Keith Tkachuk from us....:D

In a series pitting 2 of the biggest choking teams of all time against each other, so far the Blues are looking like the bigger chokers. Maybe they can get bring the Plager brothers back.

I agree - they got a good game out of Allen but Elliot deserved to play last night. Adios Blues.

I'm rooting for the Blues only because I feel sorry for St. Louis to lose another football team. I love NHL playoffs far more than NBA playoffs

Tough to win TWICE...

on the road in the play-offs. I think San Jose wins tonight in a close game. Hope I'm wrong!

Have to admit it does feel weird (in a good way) to still be playing in late-May.

They have played better on the road than at home and the Penguins won game six last night in Tampa. Although I think San Jose will win - Go Blues!

If you ever want to make money, find out what team I'm rooting for and put all your money on the other team. I think I picked every single series wrong.

Possibly San Jose vs Tampa Bay in the Stanley Cup finals? Not exactly old school NHL.
Blues come up short again.
