Did it say exactly what the injuries were?

Any indication of who we bring in as replacements?

Jordan Black's suspension is over. D'Anthony Batiste is still unsigned and so is Demetress Bell. Maybe we can make a deal with the Browns to get Groves, who was inactive Sunday, back :p

I'd just move Dansby outside and put Minter in his place. But you all know I'm crazy.

Seriously Rowe and Moch probably come up. So the Cards would want to add 2 on the practice squad.

Ouch! Losing Alexander is a double whammy because of his special teams contributions.

Yikes. LB depth is going to be put to the test.

Thankfully we get Washington back in a week. Who by the way I'm still very pissed off at. Every time I watched our defense out there on Sunday I kept thinking how much we needed Washington. I want to yell at him for his selfish act which cleary has weakened the team the last 3 games. He really let the team and fans down with his stupidity!

It could have been worse, he could have tried to get the tester to help him cheat and get more games because of it.

Ouch.....that's no good.

Funny how injuries always effect the place you have the least depth.

Shaughnessy, Okafor, and Abraham are our only OLBers ?

Painful.

Thankfully, the replacements can't be any worse. Acho had the one sack, but other than that they've been non-existant. I'd like to see Moch come off the edge across from Abe. He's one of the fastest olb's in the league. Okafor is slow... I like him more as a DE.. we have enough painfully slow players on D.. need more speed.

I think the FO got themselves into a bind when they signed Alexander. The reports were that they offered him a starting job and that's why he came here.. clearly.he should not have been starting IMO.

It's okay. You're forgiven. He's one of those practice squad guys added off another team's roster at the end of the preseason.

He was a highly coveted prospect two(?) years ago who was drafted by the Bengals in the 2011 draft. Don't remember him from Hard Knocks; he must not be that interesting or be buried on the depth chart for the Bengals.

He was kind of the prototype version (in a deeper draft class) of Dion Jordan:

Drew Boylhart said:
I tell you the truth...I believe I saw a cape fly out of Dontay's uniform one time. I saw Dontay (from a three point stance) cover a slot receiver 30 yards down the field and defend (successfully) a pass from one of the better college QB's in the Boise St game. I know what you're saying right now. You're thinking that I am being overly excited and exaggerating about Dontay's abilities. All I can tell you is this, when I profile a player and see talent like this along with a kid that shows me on the field that he has good character, you're damn right I get excited! This kid might just be one of the best defensive players in this draft. You are talking about talent as good as Troy Polamalu, Dwight Freeney and Brian Urlacher combined into one person. I told everyone about Clay Matthews (LB Packers) in the 2009 Draft (see Archives for profile). Nobody but the Packers believed me. Now I'm telling everyone about Dontay Moch and I'm suggesting to you that this kid should be a top ten pick. The teams that pass on him will be very sorry for years to come. If used correctly, Dontay will become the focal point of your defense and a franchise defensive player for your team. In my opinion, Brian Urlacher never should have been tied down to just playing middle linebacker. I feel that Brian could have been as dominating a player as Lawrence Taylor (OLB Giants) if he had been used like Lawrence. Right now, Brian is a very good middle linebacker that has to be accounted for, but can be handled if you have a smart offensive game plan. If Brian was used more like Clay Matthews, I think you would have see how dominating a player Brian could have been instead of just being a very good player. The team that drafts Dontay should allow him to use his athletic talent to dominate. He should not be slowed down and made to think and worry about his teammates and what their assignments are and if they are in the right spot before the snap of the ball. Dontay should be allowed to play like Lawrence Taylor and Clay Matthews -- uninhibited by schemes or formations. Use Dontay to attack the line of scrimmage on every play no matter what the down and distance is. Allow Dontay to destroy the other team's flow to their offense. Force the other team's Offensive Coordinator to account for Dontay on every play no matter if it is a run or a pass. Watch Rob's value board to see were this kid lands in the draft, but for me, he is a top ten pick on my board.

Id say if he was a specialist he wouldnt be on a practice squad :)

Or spend two years in Cincy and only play in one game. Of course that may be a result of him not having a rap sheet.

So we got the next LT off waivers and people are complaining?

From what I'm reading Moch had problems with migraines in Cincy that held him back, and nobody felt he fit their scheme, that he was a 3-4 LB being stuck in a 4-3, but then I thought Cincy was a 3-4 team so not sure I trust that.

His claim to fame was a 4.44 40 at the combine fastest of all the LB's there the year he was there.

Cinci - 4-3

Mark Anderson visits Cardinals

Veteran NFL reporter Howard Balzer reports that former Bills defensive end/outside linebacker Mark Anderson visited the team on Monday.

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the team also hosted linebacker Vic So’oto and defensive end/linebacker Markus White. So’oto was cut by the Redskins this summer and played for the Packers and Raiders last year. White spent time with the Redskins and Buccaneers last season.

Two questions:
1. Can Daryl Washington play OLB?
2. Is Dan Giordano, currently on the PUP list, a possibility?

Why not bring in former busts Vernon Gholston and Aaron Maybin for a look? They're still young and at least they have some talent. Maybe we get lucky and get some prodcution like we did with Groves last year.

I'd also look at Thaddeus Gibson. I think he's on the Cowboys PS. He's played for SF and was drafted by Pitt. He's another guy with wasted talent. If they light goes on, maybe they can produce a little bit, which is all we were getting from Alexander anyway.
