The way I look at it is "who cares?" This was a playoff atmosphere against a team that has ALWAYS intimidated us.

Granted it was a nice gesture Duncan was making, but you gotta understand why Shaq didn't take his hand.

i'm sure neither of them took this matter seriously. they've been in fierce battles in the past and respect each other. i approve of shaq's gesture even though i feel bad for timmy...

as for taking someones hand when it's offered, i believe people have a right to decline. anyway, good competitive game throughout. bad calls we're distributed evenly among the teams. overall i'm satisfied with officiating...

Shaq sent the message loud and clear "If you're not on my team, you're nothing." It's a great mind play. Duncan is a pro at the mind game. He'll send you to the floor and then come over and play the innocent in order to disarm you and lower your intensity.

Ah, here we go! This is what I really wanted to know. And I'm disappointed, frankly. :( I thought we had ourselves an eater!

Well beeboy, so as not do dissapoint you, as a devout heterosexual i do often eat pie as well. Should i assume from your posts that you prefer the big stick?

Do you honestly think "mind play" works at that level? It doesn't. Do you honeslty think that TD or anyone is going to be intimidated by such a move? Come on.

Like i said when asked.. i can see Shaqs motivation but none the less feel your a lot classier person if you accept the jesture then prove that if your not on my team your nothing, with your play.

Dont get me wrong, if it was a cheap or harmful foul, that is a differnent puppy. But it was a harmless foul. Anyway, too much is being made of it, i just simply replied to a question.

So as not to "dissapoint" you, you'll find the mods on this message board completely unreceptive to your name-calling and homosexual slurs.

You should ask your coach Phil Jackson about that.

Did you read what I posted?

Not once did I say it was an attempt at intimidation. If Shaq wants to intimidate someone he would knock them down. Repeatedly. What it does is remove "Let's be friends out here" ploy of Duncan.

Excuse me if i associate what you call "mind ploys" with intimidation. You dont have to beat someone up to intimidate them.

Well in answer to your question, mind games are a big part of the NBA. One of the biggest goals is to take the other team out of it's comfort zone. What do you think is going on when a player power dunks on another player. He's sending the message that you can't stop me. Mind games are a big part of the Spurs. They foul in a subtle way and when they get away with it, it causes the other team to get frustrated and concentrate on it instead of what they need to do to win. The Spurs aren't the most talented team in the game, yet they win because they get in your head when they need to.

Was this at all necessary? We try (though lately frequently fail) to keep discussion here somewhat civil. The above post was not. Please leave the attitude at the door.

I agree. If somebody extends their hand to help you up, you take it.

IMO, Shaq was trying to instill the importance of winning this game with a take no prisoners attitude. This type gesture is old school NBA basketball where your opponent is your enemy... especially on the court. I think Shaq was trying to set an example for fellow Suns. The Suns should have learned last year in the playoffs with the Spurs, that making nice, nice with your opponent is not going to win games.

Chris, I apologize to you and the other members of the board for stooping to the level of BeeBoy. My attitiude comming through the door was one to congratulate the suns on a well fought game as i did in many posts.

Again, i apologize for lowering myself the the Beeguys level.

Who is "Beeguys"? Am I missing something or did you just take another wack at a poster by using the wrong name on the board? Calling a poster by the wrong name is a cheap shot.

"Cobbler" registered yesterday and has since shown us exactly what his "level" actually is, by pretending to be contrite while again breaking the forum rules in the same post.

If it were me, I wouldn't wait to see what further "classy" posts he has in store for us. This one is not a keeper.

I simply replied.... No instigating on my part.

And from here on out... BEEBEARD will get NO response from me. Apparently, he has done this many times before with others.

While I don't agree with how Cobbler dealt with you, it does seem as though you are quick to call out new posters that post what you deem politically incorrect. IMO you goad them into an argument and then call for them to be banned. I don't know when you were chosen as Sargeant at Arms, but I personally would rather it be left to the mods to determine when someone is abusing the forum. I prefer to read the threads for there intended subject matter rather than see it degraded by a self appointed guardian on troll patrol. I suppose you'll want to attack me now.

Your right on Card. Again, I apologize to all the posters for letting myself get sucked in by BeeBeards antics. This was not the first thread he has done this on so I got defensive and lowered myself into postnig an innappropriate reply. It wont happen again. Well at least not with Beebeard! *grin*

Well as long as it happens again with other posters, that's the important thing.

I just can't believe what I'm reading here in this thread. Am I the only one who is disgusted by this kind of thing? This guy is laughing his butt off right now because of the trouble he has managed to cause. Frankly guys, if you'd rather I just not post at all, and would rather just read the musings of registered-yesterday instigators with sixth grade writing skills, then just let me know. I'm sure it will go over just as well with you when your masculinity is questioned because you like the Suns, and when dumb little plays on your username are posted, etc.

Just man up and send me a PM. There's no need to be coy about it with all these boring, grandstanding "You shouldn't do this" posts. Send me a PM and tell me how much you resent my efforts at trying to be an insightful, eloquent, and funny poster--tell me how much you're offended by that. And especially be sure to tell me how inappropriate it is for me to be more concerned about some things (like immature posters looking for trouble on this forum) than you are.

I think it's a crime that people like this make it to 40+ posts in the first place. I realize that everybody's busy as hell, and can't monitor this message board 24/7, but this smug instigator should have just been banned outright after the first "haha ur gay." Here we are at day 2 and it still hasn't happened. I'm not sure how much good it does, anyway, because I've noticed that the same people just re-register and come right on back to cause more trouble. But that's a logistical concern for the mods to worry about.

If you see things differently, and really do believe that people like that somehow have a right to post here, then perhaps I've just misread the forum rules, and worse, misunderstood the whole purpose of this message board in the first place. And if that's the case, then perhaps my stay here has run its course?

let me to the first to jump on the "save Beebeard" bandwagon. i think you contribute a lot to the board (with good grammar skills, thank god). I usually enjoy reading your posts, and not those of people like cobbler who come on to the board making little homosexual cracks for no apparent reason. I don't understand why people even bother coming here to do that, especially when they aren't suns fans.

i felt the need to answer :)

the message as i have perceived was "don't treat me gently for i won't be towards you". these mind games work, i promise. same goes for not helping someone after knocking them down with a good hard foul. it's like saying "you know what will happen next time" kind of thing. shane battier was even criticized by some commentators (i believe it was walton) when he helped shaq up...

when you said that it's classless, you're NOT wrong. what shaq did was as far from being courteous and polite as it can be. but then shaq wasn't brought here by the suns to be polite but to add mental toughness to the team. we can say it was inappropriate, but having known shaq over the years we are all aware of his showmanship. that's just how he is...

about that harmless foul you were talking about, i'm not even sure duncan was the one who fouled him, he was just standing near him...

hey, if it helps, you're not the ***** that some people say you are, we just differ in opinions 90% of the time. just do your thing (within the forum guidelines). some people value opinions from non-suns fans...
