I said the same thing last week D Dogg, he's looking for lanes that aren't developing where as in Indy he had the luxury of having room to show that explosiveness Ouchie referenced. Someone's gotta light a fire under this lines azz or the signing of Edge would have been all for nothing.

I think his patience is why he is such a good runner behind mediocre lines...however our guys don't get a secondary block or hold their guy long enough to create those slow-to-develop running lanes. It's got to be frustrating for a guy who has racked up yards behind a not so great line to come here and expect to get some holes, yet our large bodied line can't hold blocks long enough to create secondary holes or for that matter, aren't talented enough to create initial holes.

that's now two games, two false starts for big. he's STILL averaging 1 false start per game. that's a pace for 16. that's MORE than last year. anyone want to keep saying that's NOT a problem? oh, and he TOTALLY WHIFFED on that sack. awful. cheese and i also saw him get man-handled by grant winstrom. MANHANDLED? MANHANDLED! by a dude who has to weigh 100lbs less than him. again, awful.

as bad the oline was (and is, and let's say it, they flat out SUCK), warner just killed the team this week. yeah you could say he was shell-shocked. but you could also say the dude holds the ball entirely too long, has the field awareness of a blindfolded peanut (how many of those sacks seemed to be obvious to you guys and gals? what about that pass when he threw it directly at the defender running RIGHT AT HIM???), and what the hell was that women's flag football wobbler he put up that couldn't reach 30 yards and got picked??? i mean, he FINALLY steps up to avoid the rush, has little pressure, has a wide open wr, and flutters it 10 yards short. what nfl qb can't get that ball there??? wow.

finally, and dispiritingly, skorp hit the nail on the head. wow does edge look slow. really slow. i was excited about signing him, but also admittedly a bit worried b/c i hadn't seen his explosiveness in a couple years at indy. i'm cool if he's just a chugger now, but with this oline that may not be enough.

But... Warner was hanging onto the ball too long, and throwing bad passes because we didnt have 1 open wr all game. They were blanketed. Now the under thrown ball is bad yes, but cant blame the rest on warner other than not tucking the ball and holding it Jake style.

James is the only RB that has a chance of success behind this line because he is not blazing fast. A fast RB will run right into the back of a lineman and lose 3 yards. Edge waits for small creases and squeaks through them.

Wow you really are a BIG homer if you feel he ploayed well at all in that game. HE gvae up at least two sacks and throm in the penalties and he just plain sucked.

For the most part I agree with the Clown.

However I disagree with him on Edge. I don't think he is slow. He just doesn't have anywhere to run. Edge is a patient runner and is used to having a line that knows how to block. It's obvious that our line is still learning how to run the stretch play.

At the begining of the stretch play the O-Line moves towards the sideline which is supposed to happen. However the O-Line seems like they never make the move up field and continue to move towards the sideline. Edge looks like he is waiting for O-Line to commit so he can set up the D-Line and make his move. That just never happens. Edge is probably reviewing the game tape right now and telling the Line what they need to do.

I think it is clear that most of the time in training camp was wasted. Edge got very little playing time in the preseason and didn't have the chance to work with the O-Line during live action. This was where he could have explained to them what they need to do. There is no subsitute for live action. Couple that with an O-Line that has been shuffled more than a deck of cards at the World Series of Poker and you have a recipe for disaster.

Also with a shortened Training camp it appears that the Cardinals didn't practice game situations enough. Things like the hurry up offense or the 2-minute drill. Thats the kind of thing you fix in training camp, not 2 games into the season.

As for Leonard Davis, I'm not as down on him as some of you are. Yes he makes a stupid false start 8 times a year. However he is our best lineman bar none. I didn't have time to rewatch the Seattle game and already deleted it off my TIVO. However I did watch the 49ers game twice and watched Davis have a very solid game with only one mistake(false start).

These last two games haven't exactly been good examples of what you want to see from your coaching staff.

hmm, i said the past is a good predictor for the future as regards cards foibles. i said in week one that based on last year and his false start again in week one it looked like false starts were still a problem. it looks like week two supported my theory.

and no, any positives by the cards is not a good predictor of future performance. those are statistical anomalies (sp?).

and i can't call any game being "played well" when we can't run effectively behind big, and he gives up such an atrocious sack. the dude is overrated. am i saying bench him? no. we got no one else. but i am saying he's still part of the problem. particularly BECAUSE he's our best olineman.
