– The other “news” from Keim: Keim said Bruce Arians and the coaches have been praising how well guard Jonathan Cooper has been looking in practice and how he is beginning to look like the guy everyone in the organization was so high on last year before Cooper broke his leg.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if in the next couple of weeks we try to work him back in there,” Keim said. “I know he was in there a little bit (Sunday) on some short-yardage stuff and some unbalanced, but he continues to improve and we certainly have not lost any faith in him.”
Keim was asked to define what he meant to work Cooper in. “Little bit of guard, and it’s been no secret Paul Fanaika has been banged up a little bit and when you have a player with Coop’s ability, you have to try and get him some snaps sooner rather than later.”

Fact-check on Steve Keim: Cooper was out there for exactly one snap yesterday.

If true, good news if he's really going to play better. Larsen had some real bad moments on Sunday and Fanaika is clearly not healthy.

While we're at it, how come we can't get a TE who can play? Carlson has had big drops, Housler can't block or catch, and Fells comes in and blows blocks the first 2 times he's in leading to runs for losses. Niklas can't stay healthy, what a disaster the TE position is right now.

I have been keying in on Housler all year.. For the life of me, I can't understand how men as intelligent as Arians and Keim have not punted him to the curb.

90+ percent of the snaps I've seen with him... He looks completely lost, and rarely have I seen him actually square up and block someone even semi-properly.

I can be the same waste of space that Housler is.. and I'll take a 99% paycut to do it.

Interior of the Oline was getting worked yesterday. Hopefully Cooper will help this when he starts to play.

TE position is really frustrating since we have nobody who is any good.

Yeah. I dunno. For as many people hated Billy Davis while he was here, he's been solid-ish as a defensive coordinator for the Eagles.

We had a TE who could play, and we let him leave for Cleveland over a few measly dollars. #JimDrayistherealNo81

Yeah, the Larsen experiment was cute, but it's time to get Coop in there.

I saw Dray nearly get a TD yesterday on redzone.

At least Dray could block, Carlson just when I think he's good he starts dropping balls and missing blocks. Housler can't do either. Fells I haven't really seen him make a block yet, he comes in and whiffs everytime. Niklas has had a couple of decent plays but he's always hurt and clearly raw.

Just one good TE and this offense is so much better. We might as well move Floyd to TE and play Jaron Brown more.

neither guard had their best day yesterday

John Carlson is a good player to have.... as your third TE, not your first

Agree with the sentiment about playing Coop. Continuity is nice but when you've got a first rounder warming the bench and an average or worse player at left guard, bite the bullet and make the change.

I have not problem waiting until he is ready. Play the man who gives you the best opportunity to win in the moment, period. When Coop is that guy, he gets to play.

Our TE's suck. Carlson has had two bad games in a row. OTOH, with all the bad reviews he gets, what a great block by Ginn on the Fitz TD.

It's frustrating that none of the TE's are a threat. The whole world knows Housler can't block, but he was supposed to be the big, fast TE that could abuse teams down the seam. What a waste of a 3rd rd pick he turned out to be.

kind of makes you wonder about the coaching for the TE position, how can all four of them not be very good?

BA on Carlson:

"Fundamental football is you catch it and you don’t take a picture of it,” Arians said. “You snatch it and you put it away just so that doesn’t happen. That’s something to learn from. We were fortunate that didn’t kill us.”

Because it's pretty much been the Cardinal way outside of Jackie Smith & Jay Novavek:D. We do know WRs though.

There is a need for better guard play. I don't care who brings it, but it would be nice if it was Cooper.

I believe I have asked that question to the people around me at the games about 10 times at each game for the last 2 years... "why is Housler on this team?"

Housler is a complete waste. At this point, no joke, taking up roster space.

If Cooper is coming around that is great news. The raves this guy was getting when we drafted him had us all excited. What a shot in the arm it would be if he came in and played well.

Teams get one full contact practice a week during the first 11 weeks of the season and only three for the balance of the year.

I'm wondering where Cooper gets the opportunity to look good in practice.

Just throwing it out there. Keim maybe more concerned with how selecting a bust with a top ten pick reflects on him rather than whether or not Cooper can play.

He's hardly in damage control mode when the team he put together is currently at 6-1.

It probably comes at weigh in time every week. Maybe he's getting back in shape.
