Comparison -

Justin Bethel is to CB's as Levi Brown is to offensive lineman

Williams is to CB's as Cooper is to offensive linemen...both guys picked WAY too high and neither will pan out in the NFL.

I can't believe they picked a guy so high in the draft who had NO experience at CB, but they were going to put him there anyway. Beyond DUMB!

Last week I heard on one of the morning radio shows, probably Doug & Wolf, that Brandon Williams spent the offseason learning how to run backwards (back pedal), this article confirms it. How do you draft a CB in Round 3 that doesn't know how to back pedal, that is the most basic and essential skill to play CB!!!!
Played 1 year at CB & wasn't even good that 1 year. I honestly believe Keim had to be on something to make that pick.

BASK loved his athleticism but even more the positive report he got on the kid from his college coaches. Not saying it was the right decision but it's better then "being on something:.

It isn't that simple. The hash marks in college dictate how you play coverage. Many teams will play their best CB on the short side of the field (boundary) so they can roll coverage over to the field side. Because of this, these CBs don't face as many two way option routes and tend to squat off man.

This was the issue with the Alabama CB that the Jets drafted. Dee Milliner I think.

Living in Washington for 7 years prior to this past summer, I've been hearing Budda Bakers name for 5 years or so.

Baker is probably going to be a Pro Bowler at some point. That is my fearless prediction.
Got you beat on this one. Baker will be our 2nd best DB at the end of two seasons behind Peterson.

I agree but you can't discount the honey badger. The HB at the top of his game is a top 5 DB in the NFL. Unfortunately I'd bet against him getting back to that level.

Baker is going to be HBv2.0 Lite. He will be Pro Bowl, but not defensive player of the year good.

Mathieu is a slot CB who mostly plays S while Baker is a FS who will play FS and sometimes cover the slot. Baker will be a beast. Mathieu is a guy who I wish they would just play in sub packages as a 3rd CB. It would keep his snaps down and keep a beating off of his body. 60% of snaps with a healthier Mathieu is better than 90% with a worn down and injured one.

I think playing him in the FS was part of the problem in addition to him noy being 100% after the ACL tear. Barring injury, I think he has a bounce back year.

I'm excited about havin Mathieu, Baker, and Peterson on the field together. I think thats part of why the team isn't as concerned about CB2, because having Mathieu and Baker together will cover for having a marginal to average player at CB2.

I think Williams is going to end up being a good CB. He has the athletic ability, the work ethic, and the "want-to". If he doesn't make it, it won't be from lack of effort.

Bethel played hurt all year... then he had 2 VERY good games at the end as he was finally healing up somewhat.. now he is completely healthy... Bethel is going to be the # 2 CB... count on it...

He had two decent games and his injury was never the reason for his shortcomings. He has always been able to get in good position for the most part but he lacks instincts for the position... he never seems to turn his head around and loses track of the ball in the air

By all media reports he is in the catbird seat to be #2 cb. 5 or 6 ints in OTAs (better than anyone else), coaches raving he looks good, Arians saying it's nice to see him performing since FOR THE PREVIOUS 2 YEARS HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING IN OTAs due to his ankle (or foot)...
and actually, the 2 games were good because he, precisely was turning his head around and tracking the ball.. maybe it's just all easier when you are not running on a bum foot... he's gonna start and he's gonna be good...

You are using OTA without pads, coach speak and an assortment of QBs throwing the ball not named Palmer, and a whole career without solid success at the position... you funny, but I will be rooting for him :)

Can't help but notice that Jet posted this somewhere around 1:45 am (not sure if it's AZT or EDT). Conjures image of Jetstream in front of his I-Mac late at night with feet propped up and an icy cold Dos XXX in his non-mouse hand.
