Except I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that we don't want to do anything that "costs us some games". We are officially in the playoff race, I seriously think the time of not caring about winning is long past.

I agree and I believe that extra minutes for Archie would come at the cost of winning. He has spectacular moments but he looks lost out there most of the time. I like his future but there's nothing to be gained by throwing him to the wolves IMO.

What I understand, Okafor is still rehabing in NY. However, after listening to Paul Coro this morning, the Suns plan to touch base with him in NY on their Eastern road trip.

It's pretty funny that they're paying the guy $12 million this season but can't communicate with him without flying across the country. I mean come on.

Hah, I was thinking the same thing. If only they had an invention that allowed for 2 people to talk without seeing each other!

But, I figured it was more of a chance for the medical staff to review his progress with him.

I don't buy it either. I think of it as way for a reporter to say something, without saying something.

We could probably get a draft pick or something but I'd rather keep him. ;)

I have to disagree about him looking lost most of the time. On defense he's usually right with it now. On offense he looks lost some but a lot of the time I think he's waiting in the wings until he's needed... whenever the PG gets in some trouble Archie is quick to dash to his aid. He swings the ball when he should though I'm sure he's itching to take off for the basket instead. He'd probably like nothing better than to be thrown to the wolves.

It might be a slight exaggeration but we take a beating on the scoreboard when he walks onto the court. And I have no desire to throw him to the wolves or to the Wolves. I keep thinking that he will be a likely trade chip if we decide to make a trade to bolster our playoff hopes and the prospect doesn't thrill me. I just don't think he's fully ready for the NBA game, physically or mentally.

I love Barbosa as much as the next guy, but this is a super puzzling move. We've got a lot of usable bodies in the backcourt so bringing Barbosa either signals another move, or we're sending someone down to the d-league.
We might be jumping the gun. As of now, the Blur is only on a 10-day contract.

before the game last night Al said that they were considering signing Leandro but were also looking at other options.

We might have been assuming too much here.

That's an odd thing to say. Love him or hate him, Gambo generally is pretty accurate with his information.

Also Paul Coro has mentioned the pending signing of Barbosa. Maybe something new has come along. It was also mentioned last night during the broadcast that there were some FIBA issues that needed to be resolved.

Just wondering if some sort of trade is brewing that put this signing on hold.

This was my initial thought. I don't think the Suns would drag Barbosa to Chicago not to sign him. The FIBA issues seem weak.

I know he has that reputation, but my impression is that this board remembers the times he was right much better than they remember the times he was wrong. It's a bit like trusting the local weather forecast (if you live in a place with weather, I mean). Sure, it's probably better than a random guess, but we shouldn't be too surprised when it's wrong.

Agreed. Ill also say we have a selective memory b/c he's been right on a few bigger stories w/ the Suns, so those stick in your mind. He's pals w/ Sarver, so of course he'll get inside info on big stuff.

But overall, he's just an absolute, un-listenable idiot. I mean the guy rails against statistics, studying and learning. He hates learning! What kind of person is actively proud of their own willful ignorance? He's the worst.

I've listened to him some and he does a lot of speculating that is then reported as "rumor" on the board.

It appears FIBA issues was indeed the holdup.

Coro mentioned that Leandro has been playing in Brazil, so that is probably why there was an issue with FIBA.

Gambo is almost always right when he reports insider information. Its just that what he reports is often taken wrong. When he says "the Suns are going to trade for . . . " they almost always do. When he says they are interested in a player, they almost always are. But that does not mean they are going to work it out to get that player.

When he speculates, he is no better than any of us. It's pretty obvious which mode he is in when you listen to him.

The only time I really remember him blowing it was the Nash, Kobe, McGrady free agency summer when he said the Suns were going to go for Kobe and McGrady and they signed Nash instead. In that case, I think the Suns deliberately misled him for negotiating advantage.

At 31, Barbosa would be the oldest member of the Suns’ active roster.

That's crazy! It seems like just yesterday the young kid was sleeping in our locker room.

With whom? Nash? Why would it be a negotiating advantage with Nash to lead him to believe that the Suns really wanted Bryant and McGrady instead? Or with D'Antoni, maybe?
