Do you think we could get anything for Penny Hardaway? I mean come on hes used goods. I used to be a big fan of him but hes just ok. Could we get a decent center or a 1st round pick for him?? Any ideas anybody?

Sometimes Penny Makes me do this :bang:
Maybe we should trade him

We've talked about Penny off and on for about 3 years now, and really, it's just unrealistic to think that Penny will be able to get us anything in trade. So most of us just leave it at that and concentrate more on Googs being moved--although now that isn't looking promising either.

I guess now the #1 guy to be moved sooner rather than later is Brevin Knight.

Yes, probably Penny's contract is too big even for dreaming about it's moving.

For example I would do the

Penny for Weatherspoon, Harrington, Knight swap.

NYK has a huge logjam at PF and they probably could use Penny at 1,2,3.

Weatherspoon could get some minutes at backup PF while Harrington is a nice backup PF/C although he is injured at least till December.Knight is a nice expiring contract.

I think even if we're talking about Googs or Knight, there is no way we can consider a 1-for-2 or 3 player trade. We just don't have the roster space. We have 11 original guys and now 3 more guys under contract, and with MAYBE DerMarr getting a spot, that is 15. We can't even begin to try to trade Penny for 3 players--there just isn't room.

Suns could easily waive Archibald and Travis Knight.

A recent history of contract-dumping moves:

Cliff Robinson fetches John Wallace and Jud Buechler.

Bo Outlaw is packaged with a first-rounder, and fetches Buechler.

Glen Rice is packaged with a first-rounder, and fetches John Amaechi.

Antwan Jamison fetches Nick Van Exel.

Ray Allen is packaged with a first-rounder, and fetches Desmond Mason and two months of Gary Payton.

Bo Outlaw is packaged with Jake, and fetches Brevin Knight, plus two guys who combined for 158 minutes last season.

Conclusion: Contract-dumping is hard. Nobody wants to take on the big contract of a player who can’t earn it.

Is Knight's contract guaranteed? If so, we'd have to pay it anyway.

It is for this year, but is an expiring deal.

Of course we would have to but didn't you talk about roster spots?
This issue would be solved with cutting Of Knight and Archibald.

Wait one minute. Why are we talking about dumping knights contract? But I would love to see us trade Googs and Hardaway for nothing.

He's talking about Travis Knight in a fantasy world NY Knick trade.

I agree.

And the most extreme example:

Don Reid's 1 mil./1-year conract packaged with LAC's future pick (top21 protected in 2003, top15 protected in 2004, top13 protected in 2005, unprotected after) fetches immediate cap relief.

That means you can dump a 1mil./1year contract if you give a future lottery pick maybe a high one.

Wasn't this one of the most lopsided trades of the last few years?
