If you are talking about TNT, that channel is horrible and notorious for that, but it has gotten better. I always take the Cox 9 HD feed over the TNT feed. Other than that, I don't see this issue. I get the delay if I use the pause button on the DVR. I don't lose signal again until I pause it again.

Not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate please?

On a side note, taped 2 hrs of HD tonight on Fox, playback is perfect. Seems to be a problem with specific channel(s.) I'm gonna keep testing.

I think I said that somewhere. :) Nothing Cox will do about this channel either. They claim it is not their fault. I have called them about it during last year's first round of the NBA playoffs.

I wasn't here for the visit, so I left my wife a note to give to the guy that explained in detail the problems I'm having and what I've already done to try to fix it. He said "OK", switched out the box, and left. It works so far, but overall I'm happy that they at least switched the box on the first try out. Hopefully it stays that way, because I'm finally fully enjoying some HD.

So, I have this issue with my DVR that I'm wondering if anyone here has heard of. First i'll start with the specifics.

I have Cox Cable with HD Service.

I have the Cox DVR. It's the Scientific Atlantic 8240 HDC. It's hooked up via Component to a Vizio VW47LF 1080p LCD.

The issue is, when I DVR something in HD like a basketball game, when I play it back, it periodically pauses for 1-2 seconds during playback. During this pause, the audio continues uninterrupted, and when the pause is over, it jumps to the spot where the audio is. Sometimes it will happen as frequently as once very 8-10 seconds making fast paced events like a basketball game virtually unwatchable. This problem does not occur on SD recordings, only on HD. If I record something in standard definition, it plays just fine.

I realize that my solution is more then likely going to be to exchange the box, but I thought I would post here to see if anyone else has had this issue. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I HATE Cox, but I wanted to mention, I've had an HD DVR box (several different actual boxes) over the past 3 years, and never had experienced any problems whatsoever.

However, I did have some problems at my old apartment with SIGNAL STRENGTH, affecting more of the internet than the HD, but they did have to do some adjusting to get my HD to be clear. I remember having a "skip" problem for a day or two around the time that was taking place on the DVR, but it wasn't a big deal.

I reckon it has something to do with the signal you're getting? Do you live in an apartment? If so, they have so many damn lines running through those places split so many ways, they can be a real nightmare.

I do, yes, but it's a small complex. It's not one of those places with 10k people living there. I had my signal tested when they installed the cable jack in my living room, but maybe i'll have it looked at again. My internet speed is very very fast, there is definitely no problem there. I'm starting to think DCR is right and it's just TNT. I'm not getting it on any other channel and my picture is beautiful. I don't get the pause when watching the game live in HD either, only on playback from my DVR.

Well, it appears DCR is right, it's just TNT. I DVR'ed the Lakers vs. Spurs today on ABC HD and it plays back flawlessly. I have yet to have the problem on any channel other then TNT.

At least I'll be set for the Cardinal games this year, they aren't on TNT. If there is a game on TNT that I absolutely have to see and can't watch it live, I'll just record it in SD I guess. It's so odd that I can watch it fine, it's just the playback that's effected and only on that one channel.

Oh well, guess it's not worth stressing over. Thanks for all the help guys.
