Kaigorodov siad he was coming over when he got traded, Is Lisin any good?
Lisin has been called the fastest player in the NHL,but he basically needs to work on just about everything other than his wheels. His defense was particularly poor when he played at the beginning of last season. The offensive upside is there but will take a lot of work to bring out. I'm glad he decided to give the NHL another shot this year as its the only way his career is going to progress.

Coyotes trade Adams for Blackhawks' No. 2 scorer Vrbata

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Phoenix Coyotes sent center Kevyn Adams to the Chicago Blackhawks for right winger Radim Vrbata on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Vrbata was the Blackhawks' second-leading scorer last season and set career highs in points (41) and assists (27). He has 75 goals and 95 assists in seven seasons with Colorado, Carolina and Chicago.

The 32-year-old Adams was acquired in January from the Hurricanes and played 33 games with Phoenix last season. The 12-year veteran has 59 goals and 75 assists in his career.

Saw this trade on azcentral.com on Sunday. Seems like a strange trade because the Coyotes really got the better end of the deal, IMO.

Seemed a little weird to me, too.

Kudos to the Coyotes for getting something decent out of Adams, who I thought had pretty much zero trade value (he also passed through waivers a while back unclaimed). Vrbata is still a reclamation project, but at least he is a young reclamation project as he is only 26. Hopefully with the increased ice time (he should even get some serious powerplay time) he will be able to improve on his 41 point total from last season.

The kicker of the deal is his salary ($1.2M-ish), roughly double of Adams who was making about $600k. It is unusual to hear that adding salary gives a team more financial flexibility, but in this case it is true. The extra salary helps push the Coyotes further above the salary cap floor which they were hovering closely around, which in turn means that they will have less trouble moving a player at the trade deadline as they will not have to take back as much salary in return to meet with the cap floor restrictions.
