in the draft.

Patrick Kane of the London Knights in the OHL is projected to be taken #2 by the Coyotes. For the season he has 145 pts in 58 games played, is a +42 and has 52 penalty minutes.

I'd be content with picking Kane (right now the Coyotes are sitting in the 2nd draft spot). Unlike the last several drafts though, there is absolutely no consensus #1 pick, and no real good indication on how things will play out with the top ten guys. So far its a wide open field, and I am not sure this bodes well for the Coyotes.

According to who? According to this site, the Coyote's system is as bad as the team is.
The truth is somewhere in between. The name of the game at Hockey's Future has always been hype, and as such their rankings should always be taken in context (a while back they had the Coyotes ranked 5th which was obviously way too high). Thanks to Mueller and Hanzal tearing up the WHL as well as Wheeler scoring a ridiculous goal on national television, the Coyotes ranking is going to increase (and probably more than its should) when the rankings are redone sometime this spring, that's just the nature of the beast.

There's significant talent in the system, but I'm not convinced there's a pure goal scorer in the bunch. Mueller has gamebreaker potential, but as more of a playmaker as opposed to somebody thats going to be a yearly threat to pot 40 in the back of the net. Hanzal's upside isn't as high, but he fits a similar mold as Mueller in that he projects to be a distributor. Wheeler is obviously the wild card in the bunch and with his mix of size and skill he can be as dominant as he wants to be, but he's still got a ways to go. There's a couple of other forwards like Kaigorodov, Lisin, Thomas, and Porter (hopefully Russia will sign the transfer agreement soon so we can send those first two to the AHL where they belong) that could have decent NHL careers, but I wouldn't count on any of them being first line material.

The Draft? What are we talking about here. This is not the NBA were you can revamp your team after the draft. He is only 19 he weighs 160 lbs. He couldnt last a shift at that weight. THIS IS THE NHL guys. The draft?

For the record, here are the last ten players that went second overall in the draft:

Jordan Staal
Bobby Ryan
Evgeni Malkin
Eric Staal
Kari Lehtonen
Jason Spezza
Dany Heatley
Daniel Sedin
David Legwand
Patrick Marleau

As you can see, the chances of getting an impact player with the 2nd overall pick are quite good these days. Should the Coyotes hold onto that pick, they will have an excellent chance to draft a player that will help the team for years to come. In comparison, the last ten #3 overall picks are Jonathan Toews, Jack Johnson, Cam Barker, Nathan Horton, Jay Bouwmeester, Alex Svitov, Marian Gaborik, Henrik Sedin, Brad Stuart, and Olli Jokinen. Once again plenty of good players (aside from Svitov who is the biggest bust on the list) as well as a couple of guys who are currently big time prospects, but it is definately a cut below the players to be had with the 2nd overall pick.
