No reason to throw in a first rounder. Ugh.

The Suns gave up a first round pick as well. Bad...bad... bad.

I'm thinking the 2022 draft is a double draft.

I was just about to post this. James Jones gets raked over the coals again. He really needs to be moved to director of player relations. We need a GM who knows what the heck he's doing.

Non-lottery first rounder >>>Cam Johnson/Bridges

Doesn’t matter. Given Paul’s contract, there was no reason to include a first rounder or Cam/Bridges. They should have held out.

Would you rather they throw in Bridges/Johnson?

Suns should have let the trade fall through. I don't know what to say. Wish they hadn't done the trade.

Maybe yes, maybe no. What if OKC never blinked? WE ARE FINALLY RELEVANT AGAIN! (and we didn't give up Cam/Bridges. This is a win.

Even worse, looks like this means we're stuck with Okobo.

Then they don’t blink and keep Paul’s large contract.

I would rather they give nothing other than Oubre, Rubio and Jerome, or else not make the trade at all. That would at least have been fair, albeit risky. To throw in Lecque plus an unprotected pick in the double draft is just sheer lunacy.

We agree about Rubio although that's not to say drafting an understudy like Kira Lewis wouldn't be a good idea.

oh yeah Rubio is solid but if you can get better and younger you do it

even with Paul we still need a young guy back there especially given his injury history

Depends on the protections on the pick.

The 2022 draft will be a deep draft. Jones blinked and it cost the Suns big time.

It was a bad trade to begin with.

Here is more. It details the protection.

Suns didn't want to give up Cam or Bridges, and OKC wanted more...seems like an acceptable compromise.

Boom!

Suns‘ future first to the Thunder is protected 1-12 in 2022, 1-10 in 2023, 1-8 in 2024 and unprotected in 2025.

bleh... I was hoping it was one of those “heavily protected that turns into 2 2nd round picks”.

Ha, everyone wants to put the other team over the barrel, but it rarely goes that way. You're losing sleep over Lecque? Lol. (and the pick is protected!!!)
