Saric can't start. We saw that last year. Saric's only usefulness is as a back-up small-ball 5 off the bench. That is the only time he produced last year.

The reason I mentioned Saric is because he fit. If the Suns wait and go over the salary cap it's a different matter.

We saw that he was a horrible starter but he wasn't so hot off the bench back then either - and then he lost weight and firmed up for the end of the season run. I don't think we "want" him as the starter but the Saric that finished the season was integral to our bubble performance which included time playing with and against starters.

For me, it's the one thing we've been without for the past decade or so, roster stability. That, coupled with player development and a solid coach had me feeling very hopeful about this season. My biggest concern, prior to this trade, was whether or not Rubio would hold up and stay focused (new-ish father)

Yeah, it just feels like another year of fighting for a 7-8 seed isn't enough, and the rumors about Booker being on board seem to indicate that's the case as well. Perhaps waiting it out and letting things marinate would lead to great success, but this is Booker's team. (Just like Cards are Murray's team)

Oubre for Gordon, or Oubre and #10 for Gordon and #15, would have been nice...

If the Suns were determined to trade Oubre I might have gone this direction.

I can't disagree with this, I just think the trade is a greater risk than standing pat. And I've also heard a lot of rumors about Booker pushing for the deal, which understandably ties our hands if that's the case.

Nader is 6'5" tall and not athletic at all. If anything, he is the third string SG. He is basically our next version of Jerome.

Ok whatever.

It's so easy to post like you - [Player A] sucks he's just as bad as [Former crappy Suns Player] (He never is that bad)

We are cash strapped, and Nader's cheap so like it or not he's going to play.

No, we aren't bringing back Baynes.

Basically I think we will sign Gallo for like 17mill

Saric for 9

Somebody for 3 with the Bi-annual exception

Our draft pick

Everybody else will be minimum players.
If true that nets:

paul
Booker
Bridges
Gallinari
Ayton

Payne
Carter
Nader
Johnson
Saric
Okobo
Filler

that’s a very good team.

The Saric that finished the season came off the bench, in a role where he belongs...

That's a very skilled team, but one that gets run and jumped out of the gym on most nights...

Yeah, not sure about Carter - if anybody wants to throw even 4 or 5 million at him Suns may let him go.

Otherwise this is what I am expecting.

Here is the rationalization for the trade.

Where is the Gallinari part coming in. I see Abdel Nadar SF/SG being included in the deal?

Missed the point? Maybe he's only effective off the bench but you can't point to his early play as proof of it. His play earlier in the season was weak whether as a starter or as a backup. His bubble play was strong but in the one bubble game he did start he scored 16 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, had a couple of assists and a steal, shot 7 for 12 and only played 23 minutes.

Kelly Oubre will be missed. He was important as a player and for chemistry.
