This is promising.

Oh man, I don’t expect sarver to be salary cap wise here and throw money at the team, but it would be a great signal to see them game the timing to maximize the talent.

Here’s the way I’m looking at this for the Suns.

It makes us better right now. It’s going to be short season this year you load manage him and watch his minutes.

after this year he’s only on the hook for 1 year. If it’s working then great if it’s not then he becomes a huge trade chip a big expiring contract we can use.

EXACTLY. The expiring contract holds tons of value if trying to acquire another big name in 2 years.

Even with the additional compensation to OKC? If so, then I think they had no choice but to do it.

If this is what it took to keep Devin Booker, the Suns had no choice.

Yeah, but would you rather renounce Baynes and Saric or sign a different player or two?

oh that sucks. Gallo ain’t coming here for 9 million.

feel like they badly need to make a run at Ibaka with that money.

Ibaka is a better fit for us than Gallo, anyway. Still, I don't think the MLE gets it done with any starting caliber power forward.

Yes, most notably for a starting power forward. We now also need a back-up for Bridges (who I presume now starts at small forward).

Um - Abdel Nader is now Bridges backup.

He isn't horrible and played 15 minutes a game last year and shot 37% from 3.

This is what the Suns have left to spend.

Is there any way, we can leave this to an agreement in principle and use our cap space in free agency first, so we have more than the MLE to spend?

For all the people against the trade, I would love to know what other obvious avenue for improvement would be.

Maybe yes, maybe no. What if OKC never blinked? WE ARE FINALLY RELEVANT AGAIN! (and we didn't give up Cam/Bridges. This is a win.

We'll see, we'll certainly be followed closer by the media for awhile. I already liked our chances of being relevant this season with the crew we had as long as we had average luck in the availability column.

Anyway, if Paul is healthy and available for most of the season, he's a definite upgrade over Rubio (barring chemistry issues). But I'm not convinced he's enough of an upgrade over Rubio to offset the loss of Oubre. Kelly was part of one of the league's best 5 man lineups, one we didn't get to see as often as we'd like because of injuries and suspensions.

Really hoping that Saric is only involved as a backup. He's an ineffective starter who is an above average backup.

Saric is an effective backup and in the right price range.

Yes, and the Suns would be idiots not to do that.

Gallo was part of this deal - Paul and him are really good friends.

Depends on salaries and who the alternatives are. I like saric. I don’t think Baynes production last year is sustainable.

Saric will be who we sign with our exception.

I will bet right now we are signing Gallinari.

If the Suns wait to go over the salary cap which remains to be seen.

It HAS to go down this way. The Suns desperately still need a starting power forward and back-ups for Bridges and Booker (as well as a banger back-up for Ayton against opponents where Saric doesn't work as a small ball 5).

For me, it's the one thing we've been without for the past decade or so, roster stability. That, coupled with player development and a solid coach had me feeling very hopeful about this season. My biggest concern, prior to this trade, was whether or not Rubio would hold up and stay focused (new-ish father)

There is speculation about this. I guess we will have to hear from James Jones.

No, we aren't bringing back Baynes.

Basically I think we will sign Gallo for like 17mill

Saric for 9

Somebody for 3 with the Bi-annual exception

Our draft pick

Everybody else will be minimum players.

Nader is 6'5" tall and not athletic at all. If anything, he is the third string SG. He is basically our next version of Jerome.
